davecttr Posted March 12, 2020 #6 Share Posted March 12, 2020 If true this means the Explorer cruises in the Canaries stop. Explorer is picking up passengers tomorrow in Tenerife and Gran Canary on Saturday. I presume the planes will fly out empty to bring cruisers home and where will Explorer go after Saturday? howmuch! Posted March 15, 2020 #8 Share Posted March 15, 2020 (edited) Just back today, from a week on the Marella Dream. We should have gone on to a hotel for a week, but were flown home today on a special flight, along with others that had a hotel stay planned, or a second week on the Dream. Everthing went as planned until leaving Lisbon last Thursday. We were denied docking by Casablanca (Friday), then Gibraltar (Saturday), so instead we docked in Malaga Saturday, but could not leave the ship. Everyone disembarked today, most on their original flight bookings. Those with a further week onboard, or a hotel stay, were flown to Manchester (regardless of original airport). We were then taken back to our original airport by bus (several airports involved including Glasgow, Edinburgh, Bristol, Cardiff, East Midlands, Doncaster and Newcastle) Not sure where we stand for loss of the second week as Marella have provided no information. Rare dronnygirl Posted March 15, 2020 #9 Share Posted March 15, 2020 Probably a good thing you were brought back or you might have had difficulty getting home. Not ideal but at least you are safe. Keep well.
