Future Bookings Filling Up?

I can't find on the website where it says that you can get a full refund when you cancel. It only mentions FCC.

Exactly, you cant get a refund if you cancel.

What if CCL cancels - can I get a full refund?  We're suppose to sail in May (not looking very likely), but I got a great upgrade and free play from the casino - so, I'm not going to cancel.

Yes if they cancel then you can request a refund.

 

I'm kinda in the same boat, I got a decent rate, a nice move to deck 10, I wish we could get moved to a similar cruise, say same ship and days. I cant replace it now for what I paid.

 

But I understand a lot want refunds. I want a similar cruise lol without paying extra.

We aren't booked until September but I have a feeling that things are not going to be okay by then.  I am able to rebook for a different date but I'm hearing of people having to put another deposit down instead of being able to use the money they already have as a deposit.  Why would I want to give them any more money at this time?  If I wait too much longer to make a decision I'll have to pay my cruise in full.  You have to pay in full so far in advance that you risk loosing if the cruise is canceled.  They will then let you rebook but you are kind of in a situation where you have to commit to book another cruise.  What if things in the cruise industry changes so drastically that a cruise no longer appeals to you?

 

My sister is booked on the Mardi Gras for next February and she said she thinks the sailing is not going to happen, because it's no longer showing it listed on Carnival's site.  People are saying it must be sold out, however Carnival's site isn't showing any cruises available on the Mardi Gras until late March 2021.  I personally think there is a great possibility that the ship may be delayed again and that is why they aren't showing any available cruises for those dates. 

 

I love cruising and I love Carnival, however I don't think cruising is going to be the same after this.  There has already been so many cutbacks over the last few years that has had a negative effect on the cruise industry.  How many more cutbacks before we are no longer satisfied with cruises.

The FCC is still as valuable as it first was, even if people decide to perceive it differently. People are quick to think that if they get a $600 OBC and if the new fare is $500 that they are screwed. If you have the intent to cruise again, your cash certainly isn't going to make up for that $500 difference.

 

There's no need for doom and gloom scenarios. It's fairly easy to make an informed decision in the moment. You can look up prices of other cruises before you accept your offer. If there is one that makes sense for you, I would probably take the FCC and apply it as soon as you can. If it all just doesn't work for you, take the cash.

With the FCC's out there, the cruise lines will be well positioned to further cut back the on board experience.

 

All the addicted repeat booking cruisers will overlook the degradation because they will be back in their normal vacation process.

 

The lines have to make up money and they sure won't be thinking of anything other than cash flow.

Agreed. They have to make up the losses by keeping the prices higher and also cutting back on non essential items.

My story..I'm booked for December 5, 2020 on the Magic, regular balcony forward for two on deck 7.  Last week I was able to snag an on board credit of $100, $80.00 drop in price and not have to pay for the cruise until 30 days before it leaves.  It's a deal for me.  I had booked this cruise months ago when they had the $50 deposit per person so that part was already paid in full.  I did want to pick a different cabin location but not much to pick from.  Most cabins left were for three or four guests and the agent thought I could be moved so I didn't want to take that chance and stayed with my original selection.

I also want a similar cruise with the new upgrade & casino cash that I have for the one I have booked way more than I want a refund, but not sure when I should re-book.  I have many casino offers that look good, but I hate to go through the process of rescheduling this one and then having the next one cancelled.  The latest cruise date for the offers I have is in November and would be quite a bit more than the FCC would be.  

 

Oh well, I'll just wait to see if the May cruise gets cancelled and go from there.

I have a September cruise booked on the Magic that I booked months ago. I missed the recent OBC sale but was able to take advantage of the price drop to still get $90 off and my final payment date pushed back to 30 days before the cruise. I'm less and less hopeful that this cruise will happen with each passing day. But I have other future cruises booked with Carnival and other lines so I don't need to book any replacement cruise. I can just shift any FCC I have to a cruise I already have booked.
