I love the Serenade. We did the Boston to Florida Repo every October. This year it is on the Brilliance and cut short of one day. We are booked and hoping it will go.

Ok, sometime in the afternoon we got an invite to a Captain's Table hosted by the Chief Engineer. 👍

 

All three of us were on the invitation. No doubt since Pat had hit it off with Dennis yesterday. 

The dinner is for the next day. Laura is very happy that Pat was included.

 

And a couple hours later it was rescinded. 😥

Laura is no longer happy. 😠

 

Turns out that ships management had decided to limit all the Dinner events to upper suites, special occasions, etc..

They were specifically excluding Pinnacles so as not to rock the boat.  With close to 100, some would get left out.

Laura was still pissed, however. She got over it.

I can understand the not wanting to upset the applecart with the high numbers of Pinnacles  but this sort of screw up is unforgivable and easily rectified, there is always a solution .  The engineer could have taken you to one of the speciality restaurants just the four of you albeit it would have been at his expense rather than out of the HD’s restaurant budget but crew get discount anyway.

We had friends who had their Captain’s table invite recinded when some  other  guests who had been invited wanted their friends to join them, this was on Vision one Christmas time.  I was so mad for them I complained and our friends  got to go to Chops with two lovely officers. 
We had another incident when our invite went to the wrong cabin and the family in it kicked up  a stink and insisted on being invited even though the mistake was clear. The solution to that story would take too long to explain 😆 😆.

It was;

Halifax, Azores, Cork and Le Havre but Halifax got kicked out.

In November on Anthem, we originally had 3 nights in Bermuda but that got cut down to 2.

I decided Pat and I needed a shared challenge so we signed up for the Egg Drop

I had never done one before, and this is how they work.

 

Since this is the 50th Anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing, I wanted to work that into the design

My original Idea was to just do the capsule, and make it semi realistic.

However, we ran into Shelton at trivia, and he said I needed to go big and flashy. The audience would love it.

Oh well, back to the drawing board, but I'm keeping the concept. 😉🚀

It was a very nice day, so Laura spent the afternoon on her balcony

 

I forget what else we did, but it must not have been that interesting, or I was told to quit taking pictures all the time

 

Anyway here are the towel animals. I have them from both cabins

Punta Delgada, Azores

 

Pat and I decided to wander into town, look around,  and search for aluminum foil for our contraption.

That, BTW, is the unofficial name for our Egg Drop entry.  Laura wanted to stay onboard, she really doesn't get off much.

 

Pat had never been and wanted to just see the downtown area. I would have suggested a tour if we had gone to Funchal.

Laura did take a few nice pictures of the town. It was a little cool, but very crisp and clean.

 

 

Getting into town is a short walk thru the marina area below

 

We headed up the hill to the city market, and then over to the square

 

 

Columbus, I think

 

 

Cathedral, we didn't go inside

 

After a 45 minute walk, we ended up back at the waterfront and grabbed a roll of foil for 2 Euro

 

My older son liked cows when he was little, so we always take pictures when available on our travels

 

It was a nice way to kill an hour, then back to the ship for lunch

That was all I can recall, nothing stands out as exciting. We were supposed to go to Chef's Table one night, but it got cancelled due to just 5 participants, so it got rescheduled for tomorrow night. That should be fun.

Agree with John, just walked around town this trip. There is a nice little cafe in town with outside seating(like most over here) that we like for their specialty coffees.

I love Punta Delgada and the town , have been many times but there is also so much to see on the island and there are plenty of companies who do small mini van groups, we used amazingtours 3 times and never saw the same area twice !

I've done those before. Pat didn't seem interested. Way more fun things in our other ports.
