Smoke from Casino

I believe there is a dedicated door - at one end only - to even get into the hallway where those cabins are located. I absolutely despise cigarette smoke (ex-smokers can be the worst about that sort of thing) and wouldn't have a problem booking there as far as smoke or even smoke smell goes.

Can anyone help me re the Coral Princess. We have tentatively booked a cabin on the Fiesta deck which is along side the casino. I’m not a smoker at all and hate the smell and wondering if anyone can tell me if it will be a problem?

If you are looking at a cruise on Coral Princess from Australia or NZ - smoke from the casino won’t be a problem because of our laws. While cruising in this part of the World there is No Smoking inside a ship anywhere. So it won’t be a problem unless you are heading to the Northern Hemisphere. 🤔 Hope this help.

Wow! That's good to know. Now if only our cruises hadn't been cancelled due to the stupid virus. Hopefully in 2022 we will be able to cruise Australia and New Zealand.

That's fantastic news, thanks! Booking on the Coral for 2022 tomorrow, as soon as we non-elites are allowed to do so.

Good luck with that.

I was just logged on as an Elite to have a look.

I didn't check all of the cruises available but-

Sydney to New York- saying SOLD OUT

On the World Cruise Syd-Syd all insides and suites are booked out. Only one oceanview was available and Balcony was only on a guarantee.😱

Of course things may free up in the future., so hang in there.   I think there are a lot of people wanting to allocate their FCC's from cancelled cruises.

Thanks, @JJG99. My TA checked using an Elite CC# at 4pm today (when the listings appeared in California, USA) to get prices for me. He will jump right on it at 4pm tomorrow, when the mere mortals have a shot. I'm looking at one that stays "in the area," so I might have a better shot than those super desirable long cruises. Though, at 26 days, the one I'm looking at isn't exactly short.

I already have some Celebrity cruises booked at the same time, but I've got Princess FCCs to use, and this one would enable me to do so before they expire. I'm hoping that Princess will extend the expiration dates for FCCs eventually. As more and more cruises are cancelled, I think it might be inevitable.

Back on topic: I'm very grateful to those who provided information about the smoke on board!

Don’t they come up without pricing today, so the Elites can get first dibs at bookings? We mere mortals have to wait another day [emoji31]
Not sure about the SOLD OUT?

If you log in to Princess.com, it will recognise which Captains Circle status you are. The prices and cabins are there for me to book today, being Elite.

When I searched for World Cruises from Sydney - 6 cruises pop up and when you scroll through it says Sydney to New York- this date is Sold Out. Maybe if you book through a 3rd party agency then you might be lucky if Princess has allocated a certain number of cabins to them.

Since this pandemic, we have sworn NEVER to book through a 3rd party again for cruises, airfares, hotel accommodation etc. We are still waiting for about $30,000 to be returned to us and we are starting to wonder if we will ever see any of it!! We cannot even phone many of these agencies because they are only "accepting" email enquiries, which we have sent repeatedly, and have never heard anything back from them.  Not looking good for us 😱😱

Thank you for your help I much appreciate it . I finally did book but did decide on a balcony as it’s such a long cruise plus lots in the northern hemisphere.

The previous comment about smoking in the casino when a ship is in the northern hemisphere would apply to cruises that start and end there. A large part of the WC on the Coral Princess is in the northern hemisphere, but the 'Australian' rules on smoking don't change when the ship crosses the equator. 😁

On Princess cruises out of Australia the same rules apply - no smoking inside (just in two designated deck areas) or on balconies. The currency stays as AUD, drinks prices are as on the menu (no added 18%) and for Aussies and NZers, the gratuities are built into the fare.

Does this include when we actually embark at an International port too? I had wondered about the gratuities (forgot to ask when I booked) for our sector?

I have done segments of the world cruise in 2014  (NY-Sydney), 2016 (Sydney-NY) and 2018 (Dubai to UK).  The WC on the Coral Princess is an 'Australian' cruise and the Aussie regulations apply throughout. The same applies to drinks prices, although the prices have been adjusted upwards to include the gratuities.

Daily gratuities are not charged to Aussies and NZ'ers who book on Australian-based cruises. This is an Australian-based cruise that leaves from an Australian port and returns to an Australian port. If you are an Aussie and you booked here where the price includes gratuities, you are quite justified in removing them when you get on board. Personally tip your steward as you wish.

I had one occasion when I was boarding the ship part way through (probably the Dubai-UK cruise) when my booking confirmation documents showed that gratuities would apply. My answer was "No way". The crew are paid the higher rate of pay, equivalent to what they get on ships where auto gratuities apply.

I will mention that when we cruise in other parts of the world where auto-gratuities apply to everyone, we pay them because the crew wages are set at a level that assumes they will be receiving a major part of their remuneration from the tips pool.

That is great isn’t it? I love sailing out of Aussie and NZ for exactly those reasons. And so grateful for no smoking on balconies! I plan to really enjoy this trip and the balcony is a real treat for us. Just pray to God that there is a vaccine by then!

Regarding casino smoke on the Coral- I am not sure about it

affecting the cabins, however, it really does affect the International

Cafe which is small and right next to the casino. We really did not like

walking by that way and would usually try to go a different route.

Well, you need to book a cruise on her while in Australian waters or any ship for that matter. This ruling of No Smoking Inside Anywhere applies to all cruise lines departing / returning Aus/NZ 👍

There is no smoking on balconies on any Princess ship. Period. It's one of the things we really like about sailing Princess.
