Privasea meaning for Oceanview, not balcony

I have noticed Privasea oceanview cabins available on the Joy. Searching this forum, all I can find are  Privasea balcony references, alluding to hull enclosed balconies but not a mention of the peculiarities of Privasea oceanviews. Anybody here any experience or knowledge?

Where do you see that mentioned?  All I can think is that they mean cabins on the outside of the ship.  I have been in oceanview cabins in the past that looked out onto a public walking area so you had to draw a curtain for privacy.

Probably will look something like this.

Unless I'm totally missing it, that is neither an OV or a hull balcony.  A privasea (marketing term introduced a few years back) for a balcony with steel enclosure are usually forward with some aft.

OP, I've not seen that term but will look.  My guess is an OV with something like a lifeboat outside.  Marketing spin.

Where have I seen it?  I did a mock booking and one of the options had a legend  with the white square included. The white square is denoted to be "privasea". I don't remember the cabin number but I will repeat the exercise today and post the cabin number. The one thing I find frustrating with NCL is the limited number of cabins offered online. I don't know why they can't show everything available as others do.

The icon actually means wheelchair accessible, not Privasea.  The two icons are similar, so confusing....

deck_legend_disabled.png = Wheelchair Accessible

deck_legend_priva-sea_010917.png = PrivaSea

For an even better set, check out... 🤪

deck_legend_two_beds_not_combinable.png = Two non-combinable beds

deck_legend_holds5.png = Holds 5

deck_legend_holds6.png = Holds 6

And the font for the symbols is dark-colored on the legend, but light-colored on the deck plan chart.  Good web design all around!  😜

I just checked our oceanview cabin (7560) on Pride of America and it has a clear square = PrivaSea. I think it probably means fully obstructed.  We will find out in November 2023.

It's Obstructed Ocean View, not really PrivaSea.

Your view will be obstructed by lifeboat but you'll still see the sky and sea.
