wcflats Posted July 28, 2021 #1 Share Posted July 28, 2021 When the departure port says Los Angeles is that actually LA or San Pedro?
helby Posted July 28, 2021 #2 Share Posted July 28, 2021 It's San Pedro.
wcflats Posted July 28, 2021 Author #3 Share Posted July 28, 2021 Thanks. Should have stated princess cruises. Been to San Pedro many times but wasn’t sure as I knew LA had a port. Didn’t want to show up at San Pedro if it goes out of LA. I didn’t think so but the cruise critic folks are the best for great information!🙂
skynight Posted July 28, 2021 #4 Share Posted July 28, 2021 FYI. San Pedro is the only port actually in L.A.

Sometimes....Princess stops for a day in Long Beach from a San Francisco itinerary. San Pedro is used by NCL, RCL and sometimes Celebrity (although Celebrity and Holland America usually depart from San Diego).

Technically it's both - San Pedro is a neighborhood contained within the City of Los Angeles. The Port of LA is in San Pedro (which is in LA). If you are flying into LAX for a cruise, you need to be sure to specify which port you want. The San Pedro one and the Long Beach one are close to each other but not walking distance. I have heard a few horror stories about cab drivers who took people to the wrong one. 1 hour ago, skynight said: Yes, some ships do, but not Princess ships. hpeabody Posted July 29, 2021 #10 Share Posted July 29, 2021 I live about 21 miles from the Port Of Los Angeles, this is my home port. This is where you want to go to board a Princess Ship that shows the departure city as LOS ANGELES World Cruise Center 100 Swinford Street San Pedro, CA 90731 IMO Shellbeachjim said it exactly right Then add the Port Of Long Beach to the mix, basically next door. Not confusing at all, right?
