I  am wondering if anyone who has done a World Cruise on Princess could tell me what it is like?  Do they have special events?  I was on a Grand Voyage on Holland and they had alot of different events and gifts.  Love Princess and curious if it is any different from a regular cruise.  Thanks for any information.,

IMHO

One of the most memorable experience differences between a cruise and a world cruise is the relationships you will build between your fellow passengers and the crew.  Four month (+/-) is a long time.  Combine the length of time with the fact you are sharing together an extraordinary experience you will likely find that day-by-day crew and passengers become more of an extended family.

WC food and entertainment is different.  For our WC PCL brought aboard a special team of entertainers.  None of the typical productions shows but who would wants to see the Disco Show once a week for 4 months.  Food is typical PCL fare, however staff did a wonderful job mixing it up, but with 100+ dinners beef, chicken, fish, and veal can only be made in so many different ways.  Several times the Chef went ashore and sourced something special - usually a local fish.  Lots of fun.  Also, some holidays were turned into Brunch Extravaganzas - Easter Bruch was over the top.

Packing is a bit different.   On an Alaska or Hawaii cruise if you forget to pack aspirin, a backup SD card for your camera, flip-flops, etc. no problem.  Juneau or Hilo will have you covered.   You'll have good replacement shopping success in the south Pacific and NZ, Australia, but do not expect to  be successful in the Maldives, Natal  or Madagascar.  TIP - for mission critical items that are small - take two (sun glasses, SD cards, sun screen, charging cables for smartphones, etc.).  While the ship's store is well supplied, after 2 - 3 months some items may simply be gone.  Do not expect to have an endless supply of every item.   Clothes packing can also be a challenge since you will pack for hot, cold and wet.

If your visit South Africa (and if it is Covid safe), consider leaving the ship for a few days.  On our WC about 24 of us disembarked n Durban for a non PCL safari experience, and then re-joined the ship 4 days later.  With almost 500 cruises so far, I can share that the Safari is only rivaled by Machu Picchu.

I followed a gentleman on this site a few years back that did a live blog of his World Cruise.  It seemed incredible.  Definitely on my bucket list...just need to find that $72,000 for my beautiful bride and I to secure a balcony.  Good luck...enjoy!!

Wow.. would appreciate updated advice.  Hopefully with all of the SOLD OUT World cruises we will be getting informative updates on all of the Lines if any of the cruises actually sets sail.

But now, NO AUSTRALIA or NZ and other lines Cancelled... Which lines Cancelled for 2021??

We have been seriously looking into World cruises for a Semi-Retirement gift in the next 3 - 5 years and we have looked at:

Princess

HAL

MSC -  heard Nightmares about food - we are not foodies:  BUT LOVED the itinerary, Ship looks AWFUL; Poesia? Get a Suite?

Oceania

What is more important - Itinerary or Ship?? %?

Cabin type??

Everything else just seems sooo expensive or not our style, But with 2 or 4 more years to go and I am only in my 40's...

My real question is for people that have done both HAL VS PRINCESS.

WORLD Cruises: WHICH AND WHY???

*** Please do not be that guy that always comes on the World cruise boards trying to SELL Viking  and bashes Princess -  NO THANK YOU!!!!!!

Can anyone explain to me why princess.com shows nothing beyond 2023?

Where did you find the information on this cruise? How did you book? I have not been able to find any Princess world cruise info for 2024. We are booked on Coral for 2022, anticipating a cancellation, and would like to move to 2024.

Yes, why isn't this cruise posted?  Perhaps it is because they offered 2024 to folks who had already booked 2022 which was cancelled.  Will open if to others later.

I hear what all of you all are saying.  Originally I was booked with HAL.  HAL's deadline to pay the $7000 deposit was the 15th if october.  Then I saw princess' itinerary and my sister and I liked it better so I started calling princess.  One day about the 7th of october I called and the agent said I could book it.  I put the cabin on hold and contacted my sister.  She gave me her cc info because she was traveling and I called Princess.  Then I contacted my TA to see what she could do for us jn the way of discounts.  Princess keeps telling her it isn't for sale to the public.  Until it is she can't find out anything.  Maybe it was a fluke that they let me book.  I really don't know, but they have our deposit money and I have a cabin.  That is really all I know.

When the 2022WC was cancelled a few months ago, Princess offered to move guests to the '24WC at the same price they had paid for the '22WC. We passed as after 2 WC cancellations; we figure 3rd time is the charm ~ counting on '23.  If the 3rd one is cancelled; we're moving on to something else..
