asingl Posted October 29, 2021 #1 Share Posted October 29, 2021 What happens in the scenario that you do test positive for COVID on the ship? I read the FAQ and understand that you will be treated in isolation, but does that only remain until the end of your sailing? Or is there a possibility you will need to be isolated for two weeks? I imagine even if you do test positive, they should let you disembark once your cruise is over right?
Rare Rick&Jeannie Posted October 29, 2021 #2 Share Posted October 29, 2021 Strictly my opinion based on various anecdotal evidence I've heard: I think it probably depends on how far along in your cruise you are. If you only had a few days left they may just have you quarantine. If you are near the beginning, they have the right to offload you at the next available port. Of course...they say they will assist in getting you home. Your original question also seemed to inquire about what happens at the end of the cruise. I have no info regarding that nor have I heard any stories.
Lizabu Posted October 29, 2021 #3 Share Posted October 29, 2021 I remember seeing a video of a lady who tested positive on a cruise ship. I think she was about two days into her cruise. They escorted her off the ship in the Bahamas and flew her home the next day. This was Royal Caribbean. I’m not sure if cruise lines are still flying people home though. That’s got to be expensive. asingl Posted October 29, 2021 Author #4 Share Posted October 29, 2021 Thank you for some enlightenment! I just don't want to be stuck on the ship an extra 14 days. I need to get back to work to make money for my next cruise HAHA
Jadn13 Posted October 29, 2021 #5 Share Posted October 29, 2021 (edited) This is a recap from a cruiser who contracted Covid while on board. They did quarantine them in a cabin but they left the ship once it was empty. You could skip till about 15 mins in for those details https://youtu.be/9ez4XmobeWc Edited October 29, 2021 by Jadn13

Rare abbydancer2003 Posted October 30, 2021 #8 Share Posted October 30, 2021 Does anyone have actual experience with Covid on your Princess cruise? I know for Celebrity, if someone tests positive, they are isolated, and removed at the next port. If it's not the disembarkation port, X takes care of them and gets them home. Contacts are traced, and confined to their room for 24 hours, and released after 2 negative tests. They are given upgraded internet, free movies (I think X charges for some), and room service from any venue including specialty restaurants. They are also given some compensation for their missed day. Is Princess the same? Does anyone have any experience? Thanks.

There was the case on Carnival where the person was left in a hospital in foreign country, Belize I think, totally on their own. Celebrities process was well identified when they restarted cruises. If it is not provided in writing by the cruise line assume that it is like the pre covid days and you can get dropped anywhere. Also keep in mind that the cruise lines have port agreements that may impact what happens when a cruise ends. Especially if they are not local to the port. Ombud Posted November 1, 2021 #13 Share Posted November 1, 2021 (edited) There was a lady who tested positive with the rapid test and refused the retest. If I'm positive please double test me!! Anyway you want. I'll comply! https://www.miamiherald.com/news/local/article252768063.html Edited November 1, 2021 by Ombud
Mike07 Posted November 1, 2021 #14 Share Posted November 1, 2021 On the Emerald Princess, I think we lost passengers at every port including a water evacuation in Panama City's harbor. Though, I have no idea if any were COVID related. I did see people in hazmat suits, as well as, nurses in full protection suits visiting some staterooms down the hall from me..... so I'm guessing people were in isolation.
