Here’s the itinerary from my agent.

Thanks for the bad news! But where do they tender to? Looks like we will be staying on the ship till Noumea😩😩 and that is not great! Luckily just bid on an upgrade to a grand suite, which I will now increase our bid!

Well that’s the question ,where does it tender to ?
I don’t know if there’s a place at the cruise wharf that’s low enough for the tenders.

There’s a wharf near the casino in town that would be suitable.
If it does go into town,it would be good. It would be a lot more convenient than the cruise wharf out the middle of nowhere.

I know that cruise wharf (I think) from being on Irriki. If it is the same one they barely handled the small boat from the Island. Totally agree, better to be closer to town. Time will tell I guess!

You are going to need a spot where at least two tenders at a time can offload, or the ship will take most of the day to empty. None of those large cats to help speed things up either.

For tendering, a nice purpose built wharf behind the markets would be great, but they don't have anything near what is needed ATM.

What about Majestic Princess, it’s about the size of Ovation and Quantum.

Does it have anything to Vila ?

No, I am not sure of that. I just looked at a Majestic cruise to Fiji and it didn’t go to Vila, but did go to Mystery Island. I did wonder about that too. The plot thickens.!

Not this season or next. They go to Fiji where they can dock.

Strange,Quantum goes there a lot. They must be sucking up to the Vanuatu government and laying some ground work.

Vila is quite nice apart from that football scrum at the dock.

Royal Caribbean would be better investing in a good dock where you can walk off into town that the private island of Lelepa.

Or even buying that island Iririki  I’m sure it could be bought for the right price.

This big kid loves water slides - why should kids have all the fun. I'd do the flow rider on a surfboard if it wasn't for Arthur Itis stopping me from getting to my feet. Pack my boogey board perhaps? (so long as they don't put it through a scanner on boarding).😨

Love your spirit.  We are in our 60s & would give them a go. I have seen footage of someone using a body board on the Flowrider before. Why should we all define ourselves by our age. Life is too short to limit ourselves.

Enjoy.

I agree about Vila. Once you get off the wharf, it is a nice place. Once you get out of town and get around the island, it is even nicer. Private funding will be the only way to get what they need, as public funding just seems to get absorbed into the system.

Lelepa will need a Fung Kuei store though.

They will tender to the usual spot. All the local tour infrastructure is set up there.

I don't know that ships have ever operated by tender in Port Vila. The usual spot where ships tie up wouldn't be suitable for tenders as there would be no easy way for passengers to climb up onto the wharf. There isn't any tour infrastructure set up there - just markets that are a duplicate of the 'Ladies Market' in town.

Tendering into the centre of town would make more sense. Cruise ships can't get there because the water is too shallow, but boats used as tenders could. There is also a jetty.

Ovation tendered back in 2019. It went to what was called the main star wharf.

It looks like cruise lines including Royal Caribbean have given up on Hong Kong. Yesterday the central government reconfirmed strick Covid measures.( The most successful in the world)

Hong Kong’s cruise terminal is now a Covid quarantine centre.
