RCI doesn’t require vaccinations?

Though I know of multiple UnVax Adult's approved to Cruise on Royal as recent as December.

Yes, there were some on Oasis September and Mariner December sail.  I was checked for the vaccine band when entering the casino and the reason I was told that there are unvaxxed paxs on board.  I assume those that have special immune or other health issues that cannot get the vaccine.

Bottom line, if they require the vaccine bands to be properly displayed and supposedly the ship, other than children, are vaxxed  then why--because there are unvaxxed adults on ship.  Children & non-vaxxed adults are not allowed in the casino nor at the adult show venue and yet I was stopped because my band was not showing due to my long sleeve shirt.

I actually called today to inquire about a cruise this fall and the first thing the rep asked me was if everyone in the party was vaccinated.  I took that to mean that they are anticipating vaccine mandates well into the fall.

I think it's more likely that they just decided to give their reps one set of instructions regardless of the booking times. Too much room for error for their rep to incorrectly say something if they gave them instructions like "if the cruise is after X say be aware the cruise may or may not have vaccine requirements and unless cwc is extended the regular cancellation rates may apply if you book un vax and the cruise ends up being vax". Wayyyyy simpler to just have everyone booking at any time be vaxed.

I wouldn't take it as evidence they won't ease up. Though I also don't exactly think they will.

That doesn't mean private hours...That just means that there are times when unvaccinated people can use some facilities.  But there's nothing to prevent vaccinated people from using those facilities at the same time.  In the Casino and fitness center on the Harmony, you still had to wear a face mask vaxxed or unvaxxed.

You are right. Just got off Navigator. Wife and I are both Vaxxed, we asked for and were given deck 4 MDR which was for unvaxxed. We sat in the upper show room balcony for every show which was for unvaxxed. Ice show had one side for unvaxed and that was were we were. No mask required to be worn if you had a drink in hand. Unvaxxed areas were so vacant it was a no brainer.

Does RCCL actually monitor events designated for vaxxed only to assure it remains that way such as by checking for wrist bands?  We were on another cruise line in December and attended an event that was classified as vaccinated passengers only.  A family with a couple of young children who seemed too young to have been vaccinated walked in, none of whom (including the parents) were wearing masks as per the ship's policy for indoor areas.  Apparently, the father was saving seats for two other families that eventually arrived, also including unmasked adults and young children.  Of course, I can't know for sure they were not vaccinated but it seemed unlikely.  Apparently, the cruise line relied on the "honor system" and didn't have a process to restrict the event to vaccinated only.

When we sailed what seems like eons ago on Symphony staff was doing a good job. On Royal you get a soft bracelet (that seals like a zip-tie so you can't get it off) showing easily if you were vaxxed. No bracelet, you couldn't be there- and yes we were asked to lift our sleeve if we had long sleeves on. Guests were pretty good about masks too. A month later, my DH took a 4 night on Freedom (so we could get to Diamond) and the protocols were the same, but the guests weren't 🙂 as much as they tried with the masks the crew had a hard time with them.

I was surprised not to see a thread on this, so if there is, please direct me to it.

We are considering Harmony or Oasis, but the rules indicate that unvaxxed guests will have private time at venues. Is this true?

Come on already

If you are vaccinated, do you still have to do loads of PCR tests? At what stage do you have to do the tests?

If your are departing from US, and from US, and over 12 and fully vaxxed,  you have to take a test (PCR or rapid antigen) at least 2 days before embarkation.  There are other rules, for other people, which are on the RCI site, and in many threads here 🙂

Private hours to existing venues, is what I said.

From the review.

  • Unvaccinated guests are provided specific hours to utilize some facilities like the fitness center; others, like the Casino Royal and Casino Bar, will be unavailable to unvaccinated guests throughout the cruise

Basically just disregard the protocols mentioned in the Harmony review from summer of 2021 for an europe sailing.

As posted by others you want to go directly to royal caribbean's site for all the current protocols.    If looking to cruise in Europe this coming summer the protocols for those sailings have not yet been released.

Protocols/requirements have changed many times since the restart of cruising in 2021 and will continue to change, hopefully for the better.🤩
