Dobby is believed to be a chihuahua yorkie mix. Thats what the rescue claims.  I have not spend the 150 bucks for a DNA test yet.

Just tell people he’s a black yorkie. LOL I have 2 yorkies. Love them!

Another flaw to this room.

The picture shows both the issues here.  1.  That light switch shown here is usually behind the bed.  Its the switch to the overhead lights.  2nd.  The door to the cabinet swings open way too easily.  The slight swaying of the ship constantly opens this door.

Today’s a real lazy day.  Good thing because I am slow today.  There’s not much on the schedule I am interested in really until the show at 7.

When we last left our intrepid adventurer, I was navigating the inside of the ship trying to find a place to sit down.  The medical emergency closed about 1/2 the ships’s public areas do it felt more crowded even with this lowered capacity.  They closed Viking crown lounge, solarium, pool decks, outdoor jogging track on 5.  Not sure if Windjammer was closes.

We had a meet up with the site that can’t be mentioned here in the Spotlight lounge.  We originally had it in the Solarium, but that was

closed.  Unfortunately, there was a planned event for Diamond Plus and above so we were kicked out soon after we got there.  So that broke up.  We inadvertently ended at the name that tune trivial where I was mostly useless.

I decided to get a specialty coffee.  It was called a cold satin something.  Coffee, triple sec, malibu rum and butterscotch.  It was interesting.  Unfortunately, I’m a lightweight and that affected me.

Lunch in the MDR.

This was the “smoked” potato soup.  I had it on Brilliance and it was amazing.  This one, had no smoked flavor at all.  It wasn’t bad, just not smoked.

Lamb Pita.  It was ok.  The sauce you see is tzatziki sauce.  I thought there was a sour note to it and I didn’t like it.  My wife tried it and said its great.  She also said that’s how Tzatziki sauce is supposed to be.  Its made of cucumbers and i hate cucumbers.  Apparent the Tzatziki i’m used to at Cava isn’t real Yzatziki.

My wife got the butternut squash risotto.

And for dessert, Key Lime Pie.

My wife’s dessert is the royal chocolate cake.

By now, I’m really full as i wasn’t really hungry from dinner.  Ended back in the room and passed out.

Here are pictures of our room.  Its a “Spacious” Balcony.

C6E2417F-E168-4C9C-82B4-E1BFFD05CAFA.thumb.jpeg.6925707083c821c0e166b299e629a18a.jpeg

This is also the first room i’ve ever had that they decided to put the plug as far away as possible from the bed.  The two room plugs are located next to the door of the balcony.  The extension cord they gave me does not reach the bed but my cord for my CPAP makes up for it.  My wife is usually on the right side of the bed but we switched.

Also.  This thermostat does not make sense.  Which way is colder?

To make it cooler on EOS, I turned it counter clockwise. The downside was any time I would turn it clockwise, it would turn on the heat to make the room warmer. I just wanted it OFF sometimes!

I feel your coffee woes deep in my soul. I am known for being particularly exceptional at screwing up coffee. Not enough water in the pot, too much water, overflowing grounds, forget to put the pot back and coffee everywhere, exploding cups in the microwave and I have even chipped the glass plate in my microwave while putting a coffee cup in it. I'm even more of a mess when I travel, and hotel "coffee" machines are just new ways for me to muck up the making of coffee. Most recently, I found yet a new and inventive way of screwing it up - I went to the fru fru coffee shop on the Scarlet Lady and accidentally ordered tea. Seriously I have issues. It's just nice to know I am not alone.

Wow.  I did absolutely nothing today.  Makes for a bit of a boring live thread.  But here’s a shot from my Balcony as we are getting ready for dinner.  Two shows missed already.

The seas have been a little rough and combined with her hangover, my wife is feeling seasick.  1st time in 12 cruises.  This is the first time i think we’ve ever gotten a cabin this far forward.  We are in the first 3 cabins from the front.  We are usually midship.

I try to book midship as well due to motion issues. Hoping you have smooth waters the rest of the cruise! Thanks so much for taking the time to do this live thread.

We made it to dinner.  I bought some Bonine for my wife and hopes it helps.

At dinner, Maria, the head waiter suggested the Brie cheese on the cheese plate she gave us for nausea.  It actually worked pretty quickly.

Today’s menu

I had my prequisite escargot but i also got beef carpaccio again.

I stand corrected.  Previously i thought it was the same as the one in Chops.  It is not quite

the same.  The big difference is the truffle oil which made it amazing last night.  Tonight’s carpaccio did not have the same oomph.

Roasted beef tenderloin was delicious.

And to round out dinner, the Grand Marnier Soufflé.

I got a drink after dinner but i still have 1 more left.  Not sure if i will use it.  Here is a coconut mojito.

Hopefully, tomorrow will be more exciting.  we have another day at sea.

Mal de mer is no fun at all!  Have been there a few times over the years and it can't pass soon enough.  Have heard about ginger, in various forms, green apples and crackers being useful.  Have not heard about brie before.  When it hits me, I don't want ANYTHING to eat.:classic_ohmy:  Even the smell of food will bother me.  I usually slink off to bed and try and sleep until it passes.  Hope DW is feeling much better and that you have paid your 'sick tax' for the whole cruise.😉

For future cruises, they will give you free Bonine at guest services, and it is also available from the dispenser down in front of medical. You can also buy a big bottle of generic meclizine from Amazon to keep in your suitcase, in case of future need.

Beautiful.

I recently got myself a Pixel 6. Can't wait to try it out on our upcoming Odyssey cruise in May.

Definitely. I always head there first thing on boarding to get some because nothing with meclizine in it is sold here in Portugal, only stuff like Dramamine that knocks me out within minutes of swallowing it.

I apologize if already asked (I couldn’t find that it had) but is the windjammer open for dinner?

TIA

Windjammer is not open for dinner but other ships have reported theirs is.  @death_star was on Freedom last week and I think he told me they were open.

This is what happens to me when I don’t get coffee in me.3C3FD44D-8156-4ED8-BF3E-C3D4EB5FAEA2.thumb.jpeg.c4a23ed4a05bd7e5fafce9999c42f101.jpeg

Its a catch 22 as i’m trying to get coffee and there’s a disconnect.

Well, in reality, i already had one cup already.  My solution to bring ground coffee was to put my second dose in the plunger.  The first dose was in the aero press. and i had already made that cup.

So after finishing my 1st cup.  I undo the filter, pop the used grounds into a cup, FLIP the plunger upside down for sone stupid reason.  And spill my 2nd dose on the table.  It took me a good minute to wonder where all this coffee came from.  Yeah, i’m not doing so hot with coffee.

Rogeuperson, My DH says, if you give up on your home coffee procedure, to try a different urn in WJ if one gives you unsatisfactory coffee.  Each one seems to be different, and there is bound to be one that's okay.

Re WJ in the evening, when we were aboard a few weeks ago, we were told it was being used for crew, in addition to their crew dining room, to allow them to distance.

After 25 cruises across 5 lines, its not the urn, its the coffee.  The home coffee experiment is relatively new.  I started with the French Press in 2018 and the aeropress last year on Mariner.

I did hear that the WJ was used for crew dining.

PS:  This is the 3rd time i’m trying to post this. For some reason, it just disappears.

The Second half of the con Happened today. Lunch today was the taste of royal.  There’s a wine pairing option for 20/person more plus tip.  You know what that means.  Yup, drunk.

St. Peter Spritzer.  I did not like this at all. My wife loves it.  We concluded that she likes bitter, i like sweet.  This is bitter

I always pack a small roll of duct tape. Comes in handy for many things. In this case if maintenance is unable to make the door stay closed.

For the seasickness (or more like to prevent it) I might suggest trying the wrist (sea) bands. Works on the principle of accupunture at the wrist. I'd never set foot on a ship without them. Another thing is to take ginger pills. I have meniere's disease and so am well versed (and unfortunately highly experienced) in all things dizziness / vertigo related. I've never once gotten nauseous while wearing the bands and only take them off while on a moving ship to take a shower.

Also, hate to burst the coffee and cocktail bubble here, however, drinking either alcoholic or caffeinated beverages only makes seasickness worse since both stimulate the inner ear vestibular system. Caffeine constricts the blood vessels and also contributes to dehydration. Carbonated beverages (especially ginger ale) would probably help, along with lots of water.

Hope DW feels better soon!
