Waiting at the airport with time to kill.  Just finished up an incredible week on Apex.  Full photo review will follow…but until then, amy questions?

Highlights:

Luminae

Retreat

Service

Spa

Lowlights (i’m being picky here, there really is little to find fault with):

Some seriously entitled/rude fellow passengers

Weird ship layout

Casino didn’t like me

Can’t get a dinner reservation at Eden

In the Eden, how often were the Eden shows, every night?  Specifically, the ones where the were dressed up in costume?  On the Edge this past summer they didn't have any "Eden" shows, they were replaced by musicians and were often solo or duets.

Casino definitely didn’t like us either. We quite liked the ship layout though. What did you find odd about it?

I understand that Eden is also open for lunch and breakfast.  Were you able to check that out?  Do you need reservations for that?  We will be on the Apex for the first time next month and want to try Eden, but would settle for a good lunch there.

Breakfast and lunch are in the little cafe on the top level. Buffet type serving, no reservations. Can sit in the Eden lounge or outside. Totally different food than dinner.

Also, we did eat dinner in Eden and there was no show at all, which we found very disappointing..We were told the majority of passengers did not like having the show so they were not doing it.  Personally as I said, we really enjoyed it last time on the Edge.

They're completely different venues. Eden Cafe serves breakfast/lunch. Eden is a specialty restaurant and is generally open only for dinner.

Okay, thanks for the clarification.  I'll try and get a reservation for dinner.  I've heard great things about this restaurant.  But I heard the lunch in the cafe is good too. Might do both. 😉

I hope to/can’t wait to hear about the entitled and rude fellow passengers. I have never experienced that on Celebrity. Part of its perfection, to me.

I have to chuckle about this one, as there is a large group of cruisers from another line that went broke. They are out searching for their new cruise company. On their Forum someone had posted about “trying” Celebrity because of the Retreat. Makes me wonder.

What time did you get to the airport? Wondering for future flight plans.

We purposefully didn’t book a 9:30am flight, and regretted it!  We were at the airport (after full breakfast at Luminae) by 8:45am.

Eden was fully booked so we couldn’t have dinner there and didn’t see any shows in there.  Eden was fully booked before anyone stepped onboard.  Told they serve 40 per night.

Just that you couldn’t get certain places from certain sets of stairs.  Felt choppy with the martini bar location.  Ship was gorgeous though.

Lord.  In Luminae one guy complaining to every server that he was told to put on pants.  He whined through dinner.

Another couple asked to see the chef and then proceeded to lecture the poor guy about the proper way to make gluten free pancakes.

Numerous people not wanting to wait at Retreat pool bar for service.

Finally:  really jerky people chair hogging.  Overheard a guest in the retreat complaining to a retreat attendant:  “I set my alarm at 6am to reserve chairs and the good ones were all gone!”

Our waiter even commented how poorly they’ve been treated.

We did lunch and quinoa bowls were so good!  No reservations.  Didn’t check out breakfast there.

You should!  We had breakfast there one morning and lunch a couple of days (we were on for 14 days with only 5 ports).  The salads were quite tasty!

Dinner in Eden, the specialty restaurant, was amazing!  We had booked well before boarding, and I was glad we had.  Even on a 12-night cruise with only 1200 passengers, there was a waiting list and many never made it to the top of the list.  Enjoyed it so much, that we’ve already booked a night in Eden on our cruise on Beyond this October.

lunch in Le Grand Bistro, a specialty restaurant, is also outstanding.

Oh my  😴   The staff work so hard and then to have to put up with this nonsense!   So sad to read the comment by the waiter about being treated poorly.....

All X ships are staff-serving the food at the moment, this may change sooner than later but if and when it does it will most likely happen fleet-wide.

Thanks for confirming, I view that as good news, and I hope it stays that way (for the improved overall general health of all cruisers).  I do like to get my own helpings but in our new normal, I would much rather know things are "safer" and protocols are followed, and I am willing to wait to be served.  I know RCL has moved back toward self serve in their buffet, I was wondering if/when Celebrity would follow that change ...
