THOUGHTS ABOUT ENCHANTMENT - YAY OR NAY

We have a cruise booked on the  Queen Elizabeth going to New Zealand next February, so think this size ship should be o.k.  Funny cruise lines are building bigger cruise ships, however, there will be less ports that they will be allowed to go into.  Wonder if they will rethink size of cruise ships?

QE would be ok, she is around 290m.

Back to the original question we are booked on the Enchantment's last Alaska cruise in Sept 23 followed by the trip to Hawaii. Having been on Quantum of the Seas, we decided that whilst these Mega ships have every possible amenity they lack a few essential things (in our mind). They have no character and none of the quirks that the old ships have. Things like the Pacific Sun where to get to one of the dining rooms you had to go up a floor along a corridor and back down to the original floor. Nothing major but quirky. Also the mega ships have NO Viking Crown lounge. Our favourite spot on RCL ships (we have been on 4). Just our opinion

Have booked enchantment b2b2b  Dec 23 ,little Ledgon or Rhapsody is like going on a cruise ship ,Ovation is like staying at Westfield. Should re name them Mall class .🤣

That’s what they are is a floating resort.

A big shopping centre or RSL and when you wake up in the morning you are somewhere different.

I hope it is a Yay because we have booked Sydney to Perth. A bucket list item of arriving in our home port.

Very surprised how quick the balconies went. I know there aren't the usual amount of balconies on this ship.

Not from Australia but we just booked 45 days on Enchantment in 2024.  All the way around Australia, to NZ and SP.  We were on her Feb 2020, just pre pandemic.  Yes she’s old, only 20% balconies or suites, lots of rust, no bells and whistles.  But she can get into smaller ports and costs less to sail on then the bigger ships.  We looked at Ovation too as we’ve been on the new Odyssey.  Ovation would be great but 4 legs vs 3, a week shorter and just as many days at sea.  We would also not get all the way around Australia.

If you’re looking for itinerary it’s Enchantment for Australia but if you’re looking for more excitement go with Ovation.  We were wowed by Odyssey’s entertainment, speciality restaurants and I fly.

We found the balconies on Enchantment to be very good as far as space goes, just dated.  We choose an ocean view for our adventure as the cost was half which will pay for airfare and excursions.  We are hoping we still like each other at the end after being in that tiny cabin so long.
