I will see if any of the bars have espressos machines just for you OzKiwiJJ

IC located deck 6, right next to the casino

There’s another espresso machine in Horizon Court, at the very front of the ship 🙂

I just boarded this arvo, have to say it’s a nice ship - certainly didn’t feel it’s a 20yo ship!!

Cheers,

Michael

The Coral & Island Princess were built specifically for the old Panama Canal locks. Now with the new wider lock they are not required so have been moved to other areas. Island to Norway & Coral to OZ & to replace the Sun & Sea etc for the Aust world cruise.

Which has meant we scored a very nice ship for our year round ship.😁

@Cbtours I just read a post elsewhere that Sabatinis is open for lunch - no cover charge. Is that true?

There are 2 possible answers for this.
First it might be used as Club Class breakfast & lunch venue

Second for those ships without a dedicated Alfredo’s Pizza venue Sabatinis has been having Alfredo’s pizzas at lunch time on sea days.

Might be worth asking if you are into pizza 🍕

FOUND IT - Platinum, Elite and Suite Lounge is Daily from 4:30pm to 6:30pm in Explorers Lounge, Deck 6 aft.

I hope it is until 6:30pm. On a couple of the cruises we did in 2019 it was only until 5:30pm which was far too early for us. We're late diners so are usually showering and changing between 5pm and 6pm.

Irene,  you mentioned that there isn't the same variety of food in the International Cafe.  We love having lunch there so I am wondering if they still have the various little rolls or sandwiches that have been on all the Princess ships.  I particularly like the Tuna mixture but they also have roast beef and other varieties.

We are boarding I think when you are disembarking on the 3rd July.   We too have a Vista Suite and ours on this voyage is on Caribe.  When we do the round Australia in April, we have the same cabin number only on Dolphin deck.

Shame. Was hoping to see you guys at pre-dinner drinks. Will have to find you after dinner maybe.

This collection will be an absolute necessity on long cruises, like the WC. But you never know when or if you might need most of these items, and it allows you to remain self reliant in what is a very small community on a ship. Have most things that ozKiwi mentioned, but it’s always good to compare others lists, see what you’re missing 🙄🤔

Some of them were added after mishaps onboard like a lens falling out of my glasses which needed a jewellers screwdriver to fix ( athough a nail file was a good substitute). Then there was the time the nose pad came off my glasses on one side - luckily Carnival could supply superglue to fix it but I added a pack of single shot superglue tubes after that. The sewing kit has replaced a number of Rolf's shirt buttons over the years.

Yes, the ICs always have espresso as does the buffet. But the IC can get very crowded on some ships, and we prefer to avoid the buffet where possible. On some ships Crooners also had an espresso machine and was actually the best place to get coffee. When the IC gets too busy they often don't keep the machine cleaned properly so the coffee can end up with a slightly burnt taste from grounds getting stuck on the head.

Yes, that would be best. There might be the odd day we get dressed earlier, ildepending on what else we're doing that day. Usually we spend sea day afternoons in the Sanctuary but aren't going to do that this time since we have the suite. So we might be ready to get changed earlier.

There won't be any smoking in the casino. Smoking inside Princess ships isn't allowed in our region.

Coral is a lot narrower than the other Princess ships that have cruised here as she was designed to fit through the original Panama Canal locks. I guess they had shuffle things around to fit all the popular bars, cafe, lounges etc in.

Coral and Island are now the narrowest ships in the fleet - but are the same width as the previous Sun class ships which have also transited the Panama Canal, The extra height and length just make Coral appear narrower.

At the time, maybe their thought the cafe was in a great spot for a 24hr casino.

Someone asked about the Churchill Lounge being a smoking area on American cruises, but won't be allowed here.

Fret no more, well now it a no smoking zone on US cruises as well since Dec 2021.

See below

https://boards.cruisecritic.com/topic/2819807-churchill’s-is-now-non-smoking-too/

I asked, figuring it would be non-smoking here, but also hoping they keep the area open as a sports bar. When the Grand class ships arrived here for Australian seasons, they just closed it down completely.

I wonder if this was just in comparison to the buffet or MDR. Generally, International cafe has a lot less options than those, and mostly just for a small meal/snack with your coffee

That is why we like the IC. We only want a snack at lunch time. After a delicious breakfast we just want something light to tide us over until dinner. We do want to return home weighing not too much over our normal weight!!

Actually I think they must have smoked something a bit stronger that a cigar.

When I tried to find out what it was, I came across the photo below, and it would take more than a cigar to play pool in that room.

Definitely need to be high to play pool there....🤣

IC is great for a sandwich grab and go. No seats because of the all day book readers. 😆

That annoys me, the losers who sit al day there, occupying seats. Staff should shift them.
