At the end of our cruise we are going to stay in Athens. We want to stay in a hotel with a view of the Acropolis. At the moment we are looking at the Electra Palace. Any other suggestions would be very much appreciated 😊

I highly recommend the Electra Palace. We stayed there three years ago on an independent trip. Very convenient, right in Plaka, easy to walk everywhere, great breakfast, fun views of Acropolis.

We stayed in Electra Palace too.  Great view of the Acropolis from the breakfast room.  Excellent breakfasts.  Cute, teeny cafe around the corner that we had a very fresh seafood dinner one night.  Menu was written on a chalkboard in front of the restaurant.

We were on the Viking post-trip extension in Athens in late March; the hotel provide was the Intercontinental, which is a very nice hotel, but:

- The restaurant was mediocre at best, and expensive to boot;

- The location isn't in the most beautiful part of Athens (we didn't find Athens to be a beautiful city--reminded me of Chicago--a bit tired-looking).

I wouldn't recommend it.

How far away is the Electra Palace from the cruise port in Piraeus?

A taxi ride away. Your hotel can advise you how much time to allow to the airport. From recollection, about 30 min. to an hour depending on time of day, traffic, & the location of the hotel.

Athens Gate Hotel—across from Hadrian’s Gate and beautiful view of the Acropolis from the restaurant/bar on the rooftop.  Close to many restaurants, shopping, etc.  We used “Alternatives Athens” for walking tours—excellent!

Consider the Athens Gate Hotel.  Stayed there on my first visit to Athens.  Great location.

Depending on the direct of your room, you could see the Acropolis or Hadrian's Temple.

We have stayed there too. Location was great- rooftop restaurant- had breakfast there with great view of acropolis.  Easy to walk everywhere.  We had the Hadrian's temple view, from a small balcony.

More views from Athens Gate (from bar/restaurant during the day and the view from our room of Hadrian’s Gate) plus a teaser from a nearby neighborhood!  You gotta find this—a hoot plus all the kids on a sugar rush.  Enjoy Athens!

Athens Gate and Electra Palace are good choices.  Athens Gate is on a major highway so make sure to book a room that's not facing the road.  You could also take a look at the Herodion Hotel, fabulous views of Acropolis, rooftop bar/restaurant and literally right next to the Acropolis museum.
