Read “AirTag is designed to discourage tracking” Am I wrong in thinking this as it appears to go against what I thought the AirTag would be good for ie. finding my car or luggage after it was stolen. They only do that if the are following an individual (not the owner) over an extended period of time. It is not an immediate notification.

I will just have to act fast if they are stolen haha.

I was looking after our grandson, for a week, I took a train to Ottawa, and was using my son car, on about the 2-3 day I got notification that I was been tracked , it showed all the places i visited with his car 😁

You or your son? Did you get the notification on your phone that you were being tracked because your son had an airtag in his car? Not clear at all what was going on here. Rare Jim_Iain Posted June 20 #109 Share Posted June 20 I was curious about this so googled... How long before AirTag notifies you are being tracked? At first, it used to take eight to 24 hours to get alerted about an unknown AirTag. Now it takes just 15 minutes for you to receive a notification that an AirTag/unknown device is moving with you and that the owner of it can see your location.Nov 29, 2022 1

A few weeks ago, my stepdaughter called in a panic that, while driving, that notification popped up on her phone. She was (understandably) very freaked out. She has two small children and was in a panic. They scoured her car and found nothing. Finally, they opened the baby stroller and found that my wife (her mom) had left her wallet in a pocket in the stroller earlier that day (she keeps one in her wallet). 2
Kelownadon Posted June 20 #112 Share Posted June 20 Looks like I will leave the airtag in my car and hope that the thief has an android phone so I might still get lucky and be able to track it down if it gets stolen. Otherwise I will have to act really fast haha.

On my last trip, the airlines left one of my bags in Amsterdam and it did not make it to Bucharest. Once I landed I noticed that the bag was still in Amsterdam. After going to baggage check and verifying this, I was the first in line to report the missing bag. There were about 10 others behind me. I figure that it saved me about 45 minutes of standing in a long line while on vacation. We love Apple Air Tags! Recently we learned that our bags arrived at our destination ahead of us. No need to wait at the luggage carousel looking for them! More recently, we learned our bags were still sitting at our connection airport. upon deplaning, we headed straight to our destination airline "lost baggage" counter and were first in line; all was dealt with quickly. (long line behind us.). Never mind American Express Credit Card ad about not leaving home without it......we don't leave home without our Apple Air Tags! 😂 2

The location of the AirTag should show almost immediately in the app. In the case of the dog, 'With You' should be indicated in the app for the dog. There won't be a notification unless you set up the app to notify when the dog is left behind or out of range. Also be sure notifications are setup properly for the app. If the above doesn't work for you, I suggest you contact Apple support.

I was responding to the stalking feature. Two to three days later it notified my wife that an Airtag was near her. It takes longer than a google search shows. I am happy with the features.
