jimzgoldfinch Posted August 20, 2022 #1 Share Posted August 20, 2022 Hi, A straight forward question for those of you who have sailed recently from Southampton. On chic nights, we’re there many men wearing DJs or suits. I am happy to dress up where appropriate and want to know if I should pack my DJ / Suit. I really want to know if I would be out of place and want to know what fellow cruisers observed.
jwlane Posted August 20, 2022 #2 Share Posted August 20, 2022 You do not need to wear a suit.

I am looking for general observations regarding whether people were wearing suits or not.
Rare cruisestitch Posted August 20, 2022 #5 Share Posted August 20, 2022 You are never out of place when you dress up on chic night and you will not be the only one.

You will not be out of place either way. BTW, we were 19 nights on Silly out of Southamptonin May. Edited August 20, 2022 by jwlane
jrmende63 Posted August 20, 2022 #7 Share Posted August 20, 2022 A few were wearing suits, dinner jackets at dinner on Chic night in May on Silhouette. Most were just nicely dressed. If you bring them, you won't be out of place. If you don't, you still won't be out of place.
pennys mum Posted August 20, 2022 #8 Share Posted August 20, 2022 Was on board last week. I would say it was 50/50 It was certainly more than I have seen recently but as we had 3 chic nights it was probably Worth the effort
bremenkat Posted August 20, 2022 #9 Share Posted August 20, 2022 In July there was a mixture. Saw some DJ’s and long dresses also saw smart polo shirts with normal trousers. So you will be fine whichever you choose.

Long sleeve shirts, open neck and smart trousers - same for every night.

Too many colourful button through tee shirts and even shorts in MDR. OK it was very hot outside, but the dining room is air conditioned. I saw only a few passenger in jackets and just one DJ. Standards have slipped. I’m wondering if Celebrity don’t want to upset passengers. I did however hear of a mother and adult daughter who were told at Ocean View that they were overdressed and it would be more appropriate if they went to MDR. Gordoncruickshank Posted August 21, 2022 #13 Share Posted August 21, 2022 We usually travel in suites and the last time I felt the need for anything other than a jacket with an open necked shirt was about 7 years ago when they did away with formal nights. What I would say is that what ever your decide it will not be out of place due to the mix of dress, unless you insist on shorts and a t shirt! You will find people in kilts and dinner suites but, while not out of place, will be in the minority.
