That's a very good band. Steve Perry is not an easy voice to emulate.

No and the video just doesn’t do this singer justice. It does not come across as strong and powerful as it is.

The guitar player is utterly phenomenal. His solo in “Separate Ways” was next level and mirror perfect from the original.

I’ve never cruised on celebrity so I don’t really know anything about their ships. Last year we did Alaska on serenade which is a very small ship, but I still love the trip. Having all the extra entertainment options we have here on ovation is great but Alaskan cruises are really about Alaska.

Small world, our first Alaskan cruise, June 2007, was on Seranade of the Seas.

Great thread!  You’re making me miss Ovation and Alaska all over again. We sailed her a few weeks ago on the 12th-19th.  It looks like your weather is a lot like it was for our trip, not cold but rainy and misty.  A few friends sailed on Ovation last week and had a lot of sun on their port days.

What’s next on the itinerary? Victoria?  We wound up staying on the ship then highly enjoyed watching from our balcony as all aboard got closer. I hope you have time to do something fun!

Inside the Windjammer seems like there is a small bar,  do you know if they serves alcoholic drinks there or that place is the specialty coffee bar.    If it only serves specialy coffee,  is the closest bar from Windjammer the Sky Bar?   Thanks

There is a specialty coffee bar and a separate bar for any other kind of drinks.

We will be staying on the ship. I’m former Vancouver resident. I’ve been to Victoria 1000 times. Our time there is right over the dinner period. I will be treating tomorrow like a sea day.

If we had a whole day there we would do something. Just an evening stop isn’t enough to do anything I want to do.

I got to sit in the copilots seat.

Not very comforting with you in the co-pilot's seat if something should happen to the pilot. 😞

You will notice on Celebrity Millie the food will be much better then Royal. Much older ship you are going on, so it won't compare as far as things to do around the ship. I'm sure you are trying Celebrity and that ship because of the itinerary.

Yes much less. I hummed and ha’d over getting the UDP. Finally decided against it. We had it on odyssey for the first time back in February. It was just to much food. This has been a nice compromise. 2 dinners and 2 lunches. One of each at Jamie’s and one of each at Chops. One dinner in the solarium to add a little variety as well. It’s been a good blend for us.

I think this will be our standard operating procedure going forward.

We are from Vancouver as well and also been to Victoria too many times.  That being said, we found a really good place for dinner called Steamship Bar & Grill.  It's in the old Wax Museum building across from the Parliament Buildings (well... almost across from them).  Will be doing a short walk from the ship to dinner to Beavertails downtown (OMG SO GOOD), back to ship.

I was going to take a cab to Tim Hortons just to get my fix of a Canadian Maple Donut and a large Timmy’s coffee. However, we’re staying in the Seattle area over the Labor Day weekend after the cruise for a conference.  After that we’ll take a day to head up to Van to see family before making the journey home. I’ll get my Timmys then.

What was the cocktail of choice tonight?

Sadly nothing, I just stuck to water last night. I really cooked myself while on deck yesterday and had a little heat stroke or something and was totally off last night.

Second formal night was last night. Not as well turned out as the first night but still about 50% dressed up.

I had my usual Beef tenderloin. It’s my favorite meal they prepare in the MDR. Dessert was the baked Alaska.

Last night was the Beautiful Dream. What a great production. We both loved it.

Sorry for the limited pictures from last night. Like I said previously, I was a little off.

I feel fully recovered and am raring to go today.

When we were in Vancouver we had these phenomenal Maple cookies, that are to die for!!!

Next year when we cruise Alaska, we will definitely stop and walk to town, and get our fix, and walk back to the ship, and hopefully burn off all those calories...................................not.

Mind you I think it took us 45 min. to walk into town last time, and we lived to talk about it.

Take care

GREAT THREAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Does this mean you’re doubling down on drinks today 😉?

I’m really liking Solarium for breakfast now.   It’ll be tough back on a Voyager class ship at breakfast time.

it’s seems just so much more relaxed.

I’m actually kind of taking it slow today as I want to finish strong. Just a Coke and and a couple pieces of pizza for lunch at Sorento’s.

Then my last stint in the casino for a couple of hours. They shut down at 3 and won’t be opening back up after me leave Victoria.

I went into the casino at the beginning of the week with $1000. I played primarily at $15 blackjack table but was usually betting $25. I spent one afternoon at a $25 table but that table went back to being the higher stakes table so I went back to the $15 table.

I cashed in this afternoon for the last time and have $1165. Not bad for a noob.

After that we went to the the theatre for a performance by the lead from last nights show. He did a collection big band numbers. He was excellent. We’re just chilling on our deck relaxing before dinner at Jamie’s tonight.

hi

I really like the Solarium for breakfast too for the atmosphere. Unfortunately, they don't have all the healthy choices they had initially when Oasis and Allure first joined the fleet.
