lionsfan99 Posted October 12, 2022 #1 Share Posted October 12, 2022 Hi there - sailing Viking Star classic Panama Canal in December. Wondering what the chances are that nfl games will be available to watch???
Rare OneSixtyToOne Posted October 12, 2022 #2 Share Posted October 12, 2022 (edited) Hate to break the news to you but if any live sports are available on TV it’s probably going to be showing the World Cup in Nov. and Dec. I had the good fortune of being on a Viking River Cruise during the World Cup. It was a tremendous experience with each town setting up large outdoor viewing areas in the square. ro156542 Posted October 12, 2022 #3 Share Posted October 12, 2022 Being from Kansas and KU grads, we tried desperately to find the NCAA basketball championship game last March on the Viking Sea. No live sports that we could find. Couldn't even stream it on our phones.

I own a Slingbox so I can watch my home TV provider and DVR from anywhere in the world. Comes in handy when traveling.
lionsfan99 Posted October 12, 2022 Author #5 Share Posted October 12, 2022 Thanks everyone! Perhaps I’ll find a pub in Cozumel after the excursions to watch some:)

But don't forget cricket..... Endless cricket.... Cricket instead of the Bama/Georgia championship game when Tua won it in overtime passing to Devonta Smith.😱
Rare CCWineLover Posted October 13, 2022 #8 Share Posted October 13, 2022 On our Holiday Cruise (Dec/Jan) in 2019/2020 in South America, we did get the Rose Parade and Rose Bowl game. I'm a big NFL fan (49ers, sorry) but don't recall ever getting NFL football on any of our fall/winter cruises. Although - I do recall other posters said they did watch the Super Bowl on February cruises.
Heidi13 Posted October 13, 2022 #9 Share Posted October 13, 2022 On the 2020 WC we didn't get any "Football" on the TV, only highlights on Sky Sports. The GM mentioned that Viking didn't have a licence to broadcast any English Premier matches. They did show the US version of football in the Star Theatre. I believe they showed the semi-finals and final of the Super Cup matches.

On our holiday cruise we had a wonderful live performance of an opera from Italy (thanks to our cruise director Heather Clancy)

Jim Avery Posted October 13, 2022 #14 Share Posted October 13, 2022 I looked up Slingbox. They are shutting it off November 9th. Won't work after that according to Sling. So this topic is moot...🍸 Now we can get back to dress code....😱 1

BabsinTX Posted October 14, 2022 #17 Share Posted October 14, 2022 We're on Viking Star right now. Montreal to Ft. Lauderdale. We've had a few college games on Saturdays, but no NFL games so far.
