You have the wrong bidding.

There is no poor, fair or good category.

This is eBay style.  You place a bid and instantly it pops up if you are winning or outbid.

They also tell you how many people are bidding.

Unfortunately unlike eBay you can't see the current amount. So you may bid $1000 but the current high could be $4000 per person.....so keep bidding 😁

The bidding that I just did had the little meter to the side that told you whether it was a poor/fair/good all the way to excellent.

That's the regular one.

Live one after you put in amount will say "out bid". Bid again or if you are winning.

It’s all online in our ncl.com when you first log in you should see

Let’s get you upgraded click here and you can.  View the live bidding if it’s opened up for your sailing . It certainly keeps you logging in to see what happened each day .

Ahhhh.....OK.  I'm not familiar with the live bidding thing.  Even on my sailing 10/30 on the Breakaway it doesn't show live bidding.  So, perhaps it's limited.

Besides, I will never be high bidder for an upgrade on any cruise.

We had regular style like you have now up until 4 days ago. Anyone bidding for Haven got multiple emails that we we're "outbid".  We sail in 10 days.

I did the old "let's get you upgraded" thing on my upcoming cruise.  But, it was in the "poor" range.  If it was accepted (which I doubt it would be given the Haven is sold out), I would have been ecstatic because it would have been really cheap.  But, if not, I will be perfectly happy in my current cabin.

Bidding up to get a cabin I want?  If I want it bad enough, I'll book it straight up without bidding.  Bidding against another person for a cabin?  Not something I care for.

But, I'm not the target for the whole bidding thing, though.  I book what I want from the get go.

This live bidding is not on every sailing just a few and so far it’s only been haven categories it’s been going on now very rarely for the last year and only seems to occur on sailings with haven categories I have never seen one for say inside to balcony.  It certainly is a way for them to get more $$ on those most expensive categories

I don't see it on mine, I got the email to upgrade and placed bids using the "Meter" system. Their are almost 80% of the Haven Cabins left on our sailing with 81 days to go.

I haven't participated in the bidding system as I book the room I want. I do wonder though:

In the live bidding system, could you bid to see if you get the high bid, then cancel? I could see doing that just to see what others are bidding.

Would be interested in seeing that.  I wouldn't want to be tied to a bid if I only wanted to see what the potential are would be.

Yes another thing about the few people that posted about live bidding it was not until like less than a month before sailing or so before it went live,

I think so.

I tried it and cancelled it, now it disappeared. I originally thought it was total and not per person on live bidding.

So I think if you bid, see what high bidder is and cancel you get locked out .

Otherwise I would do it on all of them 🙂

NCL starts Live bidding the beef filets next.  I've got a $4.23 bid in on clarified butter.

The real money is in live bidding the life boats during an evacuation.

When do you own the vacation, instead of the vacation owning you??

This was hysterical! Made me laugh out loud! Ty

You can back

out and cancel your bid any time but if it’s accepted suddenly you are not able to cancel it’s charged to your credit card on file . Through this live bidding experience we have done all kinds of stuff ,cancelled it then said oh no let’s up it 10 bucks now we are bidding again now we are … in the lead in 2 of the seven categories we bid on . Check later we are outbid on all but one haven class . Check again we are outbid . It’s actually quite annoying to be honest . I said to my husband this is crazy 3 days of live bidding .you just gotta know your limit I guess like at the casino 😑

But don't give up as I am leading 5 categories now on my sailing and can only win one.

So which ever I get will knock me out of 4 others so next gets it.

I do not plan on losing as the flaw to the whole live bidding is people who used points.

Ok now you're making it sound like too much work. I was curious, but not that curious! Plus, I'd only want to see what would get me a high bid. Like, would I be able to bid $500 and get high bid or would I have to go $5,000 to get high bid. I'm guessing all my bids would have to be thousands as I book in the Haven, so only Haven rooms would be available to me. I suppose I could see bidding in one scenario (other than just investigating, as I mentioned above). That would be for a Garden Villa, however I don't think I'll ever be sailing on one of those ships as no actual Haven complex interests my husband and I at all.

Thanks for the explainer! It is really helpful!

Ok update !  CAll us fools or crazy but my husband saw only 2 left of the haven suites he wanted , he had been doing mock bookings to watch haven inventory during the live bidding .husband sees we are again outbid and he said it was the 1st time he really felt he would be unhappy if we didn’t get the haven he wanted . I just said do what makes you happy , late yesterday afternoon he sends me a pic of a haven cabin number  HG category ; I said we won ?he said I made sure we won I just booked it outright 😳😂😱so that’s was crazy in a good way . I do wish we could have seen how the bidding went if we stuck it out , just to be more educated on the process . I will say most bids on all the havens were getting up there no cheap deals really maybe the winners will save some cash but it won’t be a windfall savings . Anyone who wins let me know and congratulations on sticking it out ! The extended live bidding has a phycological side effect it’s called… bidding on haven Anxiety disorder …. Lol . A final word we don’t vacation much not retired yet and care for elderly mother , my husband said I’m going big we may not get to travel for a while you never know .

Booking your room is absolutely the way to go! That way you get what you want and don't have to continually think on your trip, "what if we were in the Haven?"

So happy for you! Now you better be writing a review or a live of your trip so I can follow along. Haha, kidding (kind of). 🙂

Excited for you!

Excited for you!

I did write a very detailed report several  years ago with tons of pics and video , we we’re  the Gem for hurricane sandy about to return to NY from Bermuda a day early to. Beat  storm  . I over hear a lady saying as she picked up child from kid club they are flying home from Bermuda she was super mad about hurricane! I noticed she was in haven so k ew a room was going to be empty , I called hotel director on ship whom I’d.  met at Cc. Meet group . Asked him if we could have the haven room he said he would look into it . Later that day we were escorted to the haven by our new butler 😀it was surreal we were in a 2 bedroom family. Villa for rest of. Cruise ,  my 8 & 10 yea old at time were 😳😀🥳. That trip had 3 extra sea days we could not dock in NYC port closed due to sandy . That’s our first haven experience

I will do a report for this one but not live I like to have Husbund help with loading pics

thanks for the well wishes on our wild decision.

Good for you, I’m sure this will happen, what I find kind of funny is that say only two cabins are available and people are bidding say they both decide to upgrade outright like you did.  Then the people left bidding won’t win no matter what they bid.

I think they're still eligible for a participation trophy.

I guess that could happen that’s what pushed my husband off the cliff to booking it outright the same concern .
