Getaway Feb Itinerary change

So I received an email today stating the Bermuda cruise is no longer a Bermuda cruise.  They dropped Virginia Beach, yeah and dropped Bermuda, boo.   Added Miami and an extra day in Orlando.  Wth.   So I am basically on a Florida cruise.  Not happy I switched cruises from Caribbean to Bermuda.

Question.   Final payment was made. Can I cancel the cruise now that they changed the itinerary totally?

Wow, that sucks. Is it a 7 day cruise?

wow.  Is there still a foreign port?  they have to have a foreign port for it to be a legal cruise

Is there a way out of this?

After final payment...... not really. You can call NCL or your TA and beg Lol. Maybe they will let you move to another cruise? Read the fine print, they can change, cancel just about anything.

Me too for February winter break on the Getaway. We had booked pricy excursions thru NCL to Williamsburg. They said they will create the original form of payment. It is actually a day and a half in Orlando ( not two) because the ship arrives at one o’clock on the Monday and leaves at 6:30 pm on the Tuesday. Good for us as the weather is bound to be warmer in Orlando than Virginia and we are going to Disney so can leave the ship early in the am ( private transportation). The foreign port is their private island in the Bahamas ( GSC). Bermuda would have been in the60s I’m happy with the change.

Yep, same for us on our March Getaway cruise, except we get Nassau instead of Bermuda and 2 days in Orlando. Final payment was due yesterday, then they announced the change today. Not at all happy about it.

That's what I was thinking.  Domestic cruises (Pride of America) have different criteria in terms of crew, no casino, etc.

In this case, looks like it's GSC instead of Bermuda.  And it's pretty pricey for what it is.  I'd be upset...and many times ships I've been on have diverted from GSC if seas were choppy.

yeah, we skipped GSC on my last cruise.  I guess they will do whatever it takes not to skip GSC for this one

This sailing is also not on Bermuda 2023 cruise ship schedule:

https://www.marineandports.bm/Documents/Shipping_schedules/2023 Cruise Ship Schedule.pdf

so it appears that Bermuda or Norwegian did not get along for that date or something else happen

Or... there was absolutely no interest in a [slightly] longer, more expensive cruise, in the middle of the winter to Bermuda and NCL switched it to warmer climates, hoping to sell more rooms.

You see it from time to time where they offer an itinerary, it is lightly sold, and they change it up. One of the more famous ones was when NCL announced tat they were going to sail the Epic year-round in the Med. When they found limited interest in sailing the Med in the winter, they cancelled those itineraries and repositioned the ship back to the Caribbean.

Ok so here’s the next question.  I have travel insurance.  Good excuse to cancel and get my money back? I’m

I would seriously continue to bang on NCL customer service for a full refund. They have zero obligation to do anything, but repeated calls, escalating to supervisors, may find one sympathetic ear to help you. And submit a written request via their website.

REMEMBER: Always be respectful and polite. If you go in guns-blazing, no one will help you. Period. In written communications say stuff like "this is not the dream cruise to an international port of call that we expected and I respectfully request a full refund. Spending 8 days to cruise from the United States to the United States is not where we want to travel to right now." Personally, I have got a lot more compensation that offered for changes to my cruises over the years.

There's still a 10 day cruise in March that is supposedly going to Bermuda.  I wonder if that will change too.

according to the bermuda cruise ship schedule located here: https://www.marineandports.bm/Documents/Shipping_schedules/2023 Cruise Ship Schedule.pdf

it seems like the late match getaway sailing is ok. The earlier march cruise is canceled and should be getting a Florida/Bahama itinerary

Have you ever filed a claim using travel insurance? We have twice. It is not a simple process and it took a long time to do. We needed death certificates for one and a very elaborate medical form filled out for the other (among tons of other paperwork).

Insurance works, but canceling because you don't like the change will not be enough reason.

Since you live in NY, there is no such thing as "cancel any reason" insurance. Be very careful before you decide to go this route.

Spoke to the family and they don’t care.  They just want to get away so we are going along with it.

Thanks for all the responses.

I am on the February sailing as well.  While I think it was very calculated on NCLs part to change the itineraries for both the February and March cruises after final payments were due, I plan to make the best of it.  My kids were not phased at all by the itinerary change.  They enjoy Florida and none of us have ever visited Miami.  I booked resort day passes for both Port Canaveral and Miami.  Even if the beach is cold, we can enjoy the ambiance and heated pools.

We’re on this cruise too, but don’t mind the change. I’m sorry you are disappointed. Bermuda isn’t al that warm in the winter and I know this cruise will be packed with kids for winter break..I’m guessing that NCL may be able to sell more room with the change.  Hopefully you’ll be able to get another Bermuda cruise in soon!
