Lunch options embarkation day

We generally lunch in the MDR on embarkation  day.  Is that still available? On the Koningsdam December 10th.  Assigned boarding time is 11:50am.  What options.  We are not big lido aka buffet fans.

Dining room lunch should be available, it was on my last cruise on the Eurodam. A great option on the koningsdam is the Dutch cafe, my husband and I love the food there. 
Both New York Pizza and the Dive In should be open on embarkation day too.

Lunch was not available in the MDR on Nov. 19 on Volendam.  Due to Coast Guard inspections and other technicalities due to the ship coming into the U.S. for the first time in several years, the ship had their hands full that day.  We all embarked a little later than normal too.

The mdr was not open on the koningsdam on November 12 and  19/22.  I physically went down and checked on November 12 and it was definitely closed.  Both cruises were jammed to the rafters so it was surprising.  I don’t enjoy the lido either.

Oh ugh that's a bummer.  We usually enjoy a more relaxed lunch in the MDR.

Room Service is another option. I’d rather order a sandwich and a salad delivered to the room while I unpack than fight the Lido!  m—

The dining room was open on our Nieuw Statendam Nov 5 sailing.  They didn't advertise it, but it was open.

MDR was available from 12 to 1pm embarkation day on our just completed 11/19 and 11/26 Nieuw Statendam sailings.  We enjoyed it both sailings. 

 

As @FlorenceItalyexperienced, it was not advertised except on the "when and where" section where events are listed by time of day.

MDR was open on Eurodam 11/30 departure 12p-1p, very nice way to get started if you can time it.

Good to hear.  Hopefully it will be too on the Koningsdam this coming Saturday!

A burger by the pool sounds like another good alternative.

It’s pretty limited for what I like although it’s better than the lido.  The passenger load is enough to have the mdr open.

My inclination is to grab a salad or stir fry and bring it up a deck to have lunch in peace. It's pretty up there, too.

Oh.. not us. Room service is the last thing we're thinking about on embarkation. We want to get out and about as soon as possible on embarkation day!

Cabana service is our go-to on embarkation day, or we hit the Lido after the crowd thins out a bit.
