Today the master French crêpier was in his element at teatime.
The GM, Franck, found that his offerings were very popular, with a long queue developing in the Meridian Lounge.

Stephane, F&B, was on hand to provide encouragement(?) to his fellow countryman.

I have been having trouble getting the wifi to work but I’m back online now.

Last night I celebrated my birthday in Pacific Rim. We had a lovely meal followed by a serenade from the lovely waitresses and a cake!

We went to the show and it was lots of fun. I think it was called Crossroads. We missed the first couple of numbers but the singers were good and the dancers threw themselves into it.

When we returned to our cabin we had a lovely surprise. I had won a raffle prize in the treasure hunt trail. And what a great prize… a Regent rucksack full of Regent goodies. A polo shirt, a long sleeved T shirt, a pack of cards, a baseball cap, a luggage strap! It was all in there. I think the only thing missing was a cuddly toy. Ok, I’m showing my age there. U.K. readers will get the Generation Game reference.

We also had a birthday banner put up in the room as well as balloons. We are really enjoying the Regent experience. The staff have gone above and beyond to make us happy.

Today we have spent quite a bit of time watching the gannets/boobies diving into the sea. We have seen flying fish and dolphins too.

We are in the midst of the art scavenger hunt now. We did one on Oceania Sirena in October and had great fun exploring all parts of the ship to track down the art works. So, the person gawping at carpets, light fittings and ceiling decor is me!

Internet seems to have taken a dive today, so this will be a short update.

Today we are docked in Pietro Quetzal, Guatemala

Last night the SSS party was well attended.
It was reported that there are 704 guests on board with 573 of them having sailed with Regent previously.

Three long service awards were made to crew; two from the deck department and one from the galley; each having served 20 years.

Two new guest entertainers joined the ship in Punteranus.

Matt Marcy, comedy magician, gave his first performance last night.

Heather Sullivan, pianist/vocalist is on tonight.

We are back in our cabin after dinner at Compass Rose.
I selected the vegetable biryani, which was describes as mild. I asked our waiter if I could have it spiced  up a bit, he said “of course”. Well, it came pretty much spiceless! He could see that I was sifting through it with my fork, looking for a spicy sauce and not finding it. He immediately removed it, got in touch with the chef and asked for more spice. I asked if I could have dahl sauce to make it more spicy and saucy.

5 minutes later I have a fresh meal. Spicier veg amongst the rice and Dahl! It was totally delicious.

What a fabulous level of service we are experiencing on board. Menu modification to my individual taste is definitely above and beyond our expectations. We are loving Regent.

Today we are at sea. Sunny first thing but now the ship is enveloped in low cloud with the foghorn being sounded every minute.

Margaritas being served on deck (never to early is it?). The bar staff have been very attentive on the pool deck this cruise; always on hand with iced water and/or something a little stronger 🍹

David, Annabel & Alex were recording their morning show (for tomorrow) earlier by the pool, before the fog rolled in.

Tonight is David Nevin’s show. He is a very good singer.

The skies cleared at lunchtime leaving a clear hot afternoon with a glorious sky in the evening

A short variety show was staged for the SSS top tier event, with David & Anna performing “The Prayer” as the finale.

At the SSS party the employee of the month received his award - certificate, $500 and a day-off

Later it was a packed theatre & standing ovation for David Nevin’s own show

We finished the evening in the Meridian Lounge where the band (Regent Signature Orchestra) played a selection of rock songs. They are all fabulous musicians and the leader is a skilled trumpet player and a great singer.

Excellent entertainment this cruise.

Today we are in a hot & humid Acapulco

They are preparing firework barges in the bay ready for tonight’s festivities.

Unfortunately we will miss the display as we are leaving early evening, but there are plenty of New Year’s Eve events being organised on the ship including a party on deck to see in 2023.

Tonight the clocks go back so we, & the crew, will gain an hour extra in bed after the partying.

Tomorrow there will be a ‘Sunday at Sea’ brunch in Compass Rose 😋  That should help clear any lingering hangovers

Happy New Year to all those following this blog 🥳 🍹

New Year’s Eve on Splendor was a night to remember.

Preparations by the officers, staff & crew were perfect to ensure guests had an enjoyable time

The programme for the evening was jam packed with entertainment

After the 10pm show in the theatre it was up to the deck for dancing in the warm night air

The band played, the singers sang, guests danced and the wait staff kept everyone well supplied with drink and canapés

As the band wound up proceedings on deck, the party continued downstairs in the Splendor Lounge.

Wes (leader of the Regent Signature Orchestra) did a fantastic job as DJ

Between keeping us all well fuelled with alcohol & snacks, the bar staff joined in with the party 🥳

Finally at 2:30 am we made our way to bed with great memories of a wonderful night spent with the ‘Regent family’ and many new friends.

Luckily we gained an hour during the night due to a time change so we are ready for the rigours of a day at sea with the expectation of a delicious brunch 😋

So very late to this party, finally found a spot to get wifi to work- I think!

cruise has been wonderful, however it started not so good, as the second day of the cruise I came down with the flu. I spent 2 days in bed thinking about throwing myself off the balcony, but didn’t have the strength to get up to do it.
We decided to stay to ourselves for the first week. Glad I had the flu shot in Nov. or it could have easily ruined the entire trip.
As it is, I am still not able to indulge in the way I had expected, but am loving the ship and the entertainment, now that I feel it is ok to attend.
Last nights celebration was amazing- first time in 15 years we have made it till midnight, though we did head to bed after the pool deck shut down.
We have been loving Gino in the observation lounge for pre dinner drinks, and trivia has been great fun- first timers, and pleasantly surprised to get about half the answers correct.
Going to enjoy a relaxing sea day, just finishing brunch, and going to go to the blackjack tournament. It was so nice getting that extra hour sleep in.

We have found WiFi/internet connectivity to be generally good in our suite and around the ship this cruise.

We initially had an issue in our suite on the last segment but a visit from the internet manager and a ship’s technician soon got things sorted (repeater rebooted)

Was Compass Rose the only venue to have dinner on New Years Eve?

No, all venues including the specialities were open yesterday evening (Not sure about the Pool Grill)

Compass Rose had the Gala Menu and the ‘always available’

So plenty of choice for all
