Is taking food on board permitted?

Morning. We are travelling on Majestic Princess to NZ on 3rd Jan. My mother eats Kefir (a fermented yogurt type drink) everyday to keep regular. As I imagine this would not be available on board, would she be permitted to bring her own with her and store in the cabin fridge?

I'm not sure about it being permitted,  but apart from that the fridges in the cabins don't seem to be cold enough

More like a cooler box than a fridge at home.

How about normal yoghurt and prunes? Every half decent ship has those....

The Princess cruises FAQ says:

May I bring my own food on a Princess cruise?

The only food that Princess always permits onboard is pre-packaged items, such as breakfast bars or snacks. Most fresh food is subject to customs restrictions and is highly discouraged.
