No...we are just off the Navigator and didn't pre-pay our gratuities and had My Time Dining. Not sure why you think the two would be linked.

I read an article/blog this morning re:  My Time/Anytime (which isn't always just anytime) and it clearly stated that gratuities must be pre-paid to dine @ My Time Dining.

You are reading the wrong blogs.  We never prepay and only do Mytime.

Check the date on that article.

Thank you

Guess we won't be eating.  Windjammer...here we come 3X daily.

So you are saying you don't pay any gratuities for the staff.  And FYI. the article you read was from 2010.

Here’s some additional information to keep in mind:

  • Dinner is served in the main dining room

  • Same menu as traditional seating

  • Same impeccable service as traditional seating

  • Just pre-pay your gratuities to participate - this includes tips for your waiter, assistant waiter, head waiter and stateroom attendant

  • You no longer have to have a table assignment or permanent table mates

  • You can request a certain waiter (subject to availability)

Oh, no, not at all.  We tip generously.

We don't pre-pay.  We pay at end of cruise.

Years ago when My Time Dining first came out, you DID have to pay gratuities up front -- that has now changed.

However, it's still just easier to pay up front and be done with it.

Yes, just as Mum2Mercury said.  We've been doing MTD for many years now;  we did have to pre-pay gratuities up front years ago, but it's been quite some time now, since that was required in order to do MTD.  You can pre-pay if that's what you wish, or you just pay at the end of your cruise.  No worries!

Just realize that the grats will still be added to your account during the sailing - so financially, there's no diff between pre-paying and paying later if you pay the standard grats amount. Now, if you want to remove the grats and tip in cash..............

What difference if you pay before or the end of your cruise. Are you really only gonna eat in buffet for your holiday for the sake of paying a few weeks or months in advance.

It only used to apply to MTD, early or late traditional were not affected. The bean counters must of thought the MTD group opted out of gratuities.

The difference for us is OBC.  We usually have plenty of OBC from our TA, so would rather not pre-pay the gratuities and have them covered by the OBC.

I am glad Royal allows this... not all cruise lines do.
