Enchanted Princess changes due in dry dock?

The problem is the same as on Discovery. The smoke from the casino wafts into the Piazza area on deck 6 and negatively those venues there. On the Discovery it made a major portion of Crooners unuseable.

That problem just seems to have occurred on the newer Royal class designs for some reason.

Yesterday while on the Enchanted Princess, I was able to get more information from some crew. I was told that Sabatini's is moving to the current location of Bistro Sur La Mer. There may also be some sort of seafood restaurant going in that area. The 360 Experience is going into the current Sabatini's.

OK well maybe they will make it bigger. No clue. Just what I was told.

Since it design incorporates individual projection cameras in 20 different directions plus wall projections at the same time it might not be feasible to change much about it without spending a bunch of money.

The Salty Dog Gastropub on 5 will change to an Irish Pub, O’Malley’s.  There will be an extra charge to eat there, as of now they plan for it to be an “A la carte” menu.  Similar to what you see at the Ocean Terrace sushi on deck 6.

Their list is over 1,000 changes and a very short time to do everything.  The crew has been given their lists of assignments to complete.

They are still trying to figure out the best situation for adding doors to the casino, piazza side, to cut down the effects of smoking.  They have several plans to modify and will see which will work best.  They plan to remove the huge bar in the casino and replace it with slot machines.
Also, they will try a different filtration system in the casino, as this one is not doing a good job.

What really affected me, was the deodorizer they were pumping into the casino, to cover up the smoke odor.  They used it in some halls, cabins and the casino.  It smelled the same in the piazza, especially on 6 & 7.  Overpowering.  Some cabin stewards were spraying it in the corners of the cabins.  Stinky stuff.  IMO.

Now that Enchanted Princess is en route to Fincantieri Palermo - due to arrive at 18:00 UTC (2:00PM EDT) tomorrow - maybe, just maybe Princess will finally give us some "Come Back New" details of her upcoming Dry Dock.

Just got off this morning at 9 am in Barcelona.  No idea if they will advise

any time soon about the changes that actually happen. We will know on April 15th anyway.  Lol

Very true - and I am sure the Cruise Critic community will share all the details, pictures and menus as soon as they board the ship on the 15th - if not sooner if Princess at least updates those boarding right after dry dock.

Will be on her first cruise after drydock, the 15th of April, curious about the changes. Right now she is on the way to the shipyard in Palermo.

My wife and I were on this week's cruise. Several of the crew reported that the gastropub is changing to an Irish pub concept with an extensive beer on tap offering.  I hope this is the case. Also, as far as the casino goes I feel like Take 5 is a little too large a layout for a jazz club; it seems like it could be more intimate by splitting it in half to use the extra space to expand the casino. The jazz in Take 5 was fantastic, maybe a little too composed and less conversational than I like, but fantastic none the less.

Question - not sure how busy Take Five gets - but might it be better as a separate Non-Smoking casino??? and then utilize another venue - maybe Crown Grill Bar for jazz performers.  Just a thought...Discuss.

To my regret, I never made it into Take 5 for the jazz shows but I am familiar with the layout because this is where Pop Choir rehearsed.  Our choir director was Andy, the sax player, and he was not only the best director of any pop choir I've done, but also a genuinely kind and extremely patient guy.   It was a joy working with him.   I know that besides playing in the Princess orchestra, he played in the jazz combo and I wish I'd have gone to see them.

I agree it was a bit of an odd layout for a jazz club, a bit long and narrow.

We went to Take 5 often when we were on the Enchanted earlier this year and it was always pretty full. I like that Take 5 doesn’t feel like it had tons of people walking through the middle of it the way the Crown Grill Bar does. That area feels like a hotel lobby or train station to me.  It’s the absolute opposite of an intimate space in my opinion.

I did not like that people walked through Take 5 after things complete from the theater. Moving Take 5 to something a little more intimate and less.... interruption would be nice.

Dine My Way no longer shows "Bistro Sur La Mer".  It now has "Catch by Rudi".  No other details, yet.

I had Bistro Sur La Mer booked for embarkation night of August 12th cruise.  It no longer shows up in my app.  And it shows "Catch by Rudi" but no option to book it.  So that change seems to be confirmed.

My prepaid booking for SLM is likewise gone ...

So the "rumor" that Alfredo's was going into that location appears to be incorrect???  I can't wait for the ship to come out of dry dock so we will really know what changes were made!

My guess is they are just renaming GiGi's to Alfredo's, like the other Royal Class ships.  It's the same restaurant/menu so I never understood why they called it something different to begin with.

I fail to understand the big secret on the part of Princess.  It could easily be a marketing tool for them to advertise and brew excitement.  If accurate about Catch by Rudi and the Irish pub, both of which will be brand new to the line, shout it from the rooftops and gain momentum.

Rudi Sodamin, Princess' head of culinary arts, opened a seafood restaurant on Holland America's Koningsdam called Sel de Mer. The fish was really fresh and it was one of the more memorable meals on our cruise. Hopefully the Catch by Rudi concept is similar!

I had never heard the rumor about moving Gigi's - just renaming and expanding seating.

Trivia - Gigi's is named in honor of an executive at shipbuilder Fincantieri (where Enchanted is currently) and Alfredo's is named in honor of a former Princess executive chef.

So - what we think we know is -

Bistro Sur La Mer becomes Sabatini's.

Sabatini's becomes Catch by Rudi.

Salty Dog GP and Gelato becomes Murphy's Irish Pub.

Gelato moves to Lido Deck 16. (Probably at Swirls)

Casino loses it's bar and gets sliding doors.

We'll check the bingo card in 2 weeks and see if we got this right - without any help from Princess or JP himself.  Where is the Marketing Dept.?  Those oversized, overdone, slightly ridiculous sundaes got more "love" than this.
