Hi @OceanZena🙂

Recent live reviews have been showing two bottles of water provided in the stateroom.

There are 2 bottles but those aren't free. You will be charged for those. There is even a price tag on it.

Thanks. I guess they leave a coupon in the cabin for me to redeem it with?

No. It is loaded on your Sail and Sign card. Just go to a bar, tell them you want your liter of water, they swipe your card and off you go with your bottle.

I'm sailing solo this Friday so i'm only expecting 1 bottle in the room, but 2 would be a nice surprise. If it's not there, i'll look out for any coupons to redeem. Thanks.

Noted. Won't be looking for any coupons now. Thanks!

The same applies to your pin. It is no longer placed in your stateroom. You need to swing by Pixels and ask for it if you want it.

Wow. I wouldn't have known that if you didn't mention it. I love collecting the pins. I guess there's instructions for both the water and pin left in the stateroom?

No. You just have to know through word of mouth and tribal knowledge.

There will be instructions and QR codes on pieces of paper on the desk in your stateroom. They are not trying to keep secrets. I assume it has been changed in part to lessen the load for the housekeeping staff. But if less people claim the pins and waters that is also a win for Carnival.

The “coupon” is loaded to your sail and sign card, and you can either take one from the cabin or go to any bar.  On my last two sailings when I went to the bar they told me to take one from the cabin.  I did, and there was no charge.  Apparently when the cabin steward puts through the charge, the “coupon” is recognized and so no charge goes onto the account.

There should be a sheet with QR codes in your cabin that you can scan and get information about where to get your perks as well as the menu for room service.  On our recent cruise we used the water in the room and it was charged and then zeroed out for us.

Also, if you are gold - you can go to the casino cashier and ask for your $25 credit.

Some ships will give you cash. Other ships will put it on your sign and sail for slot use.

This $25 is a credit for the cancelled Slot/Blackjack tournaments that Gold members used to get free admittance to.   This is also not a publicized perk of the gold card.

There's no casino credit for Gold. Platinum/Diamond only.

This is good to know. I'll confirm with the cabin steward as well. It would be easier to just take one of the bottles in the room and be credited for it. I'll still have to schlep to Pixels for my pin though.

I didn't know about this. That's something nice to look forward to when I reach Platinum.

For what it's worth (the Carnival website isn't always accurate) the description of the VIFP perks says:

Complimentary 1.5 liter bottle of water
Redeemable at any bar, restaurant or stateroom

https://www.carnival.com/vifp/benefits

So I'm assuming we can indeed take the bottles in the cabin. Hopefully the steward will replace them when used because I believe we are supposed to each get a bottle for being gold and also get 2 large bottles for being in a suite, for a total of 4.

(Actually it says we can redeem our bottle at any stateroom. So I guess it doesn't even need to be our stateroom. We can just take someone else's from their stateroom.😉)

I just received an email (supposedly for Platinum and Diamond Suite Guests) which indicates:

Complimentary Beverages

  • Brunch Beverage – redeemable in the dining room.
  • 1.5L Bottled Water – redeemable from any bar, restaurant or your stateroom.

So, for suite guests at least, I guess you're limited to the bottles of water in your cabin.... darn it! 😉

Information on Carnival website and I have gotten a letter in my room every cruise

Yes, you still get the 1.5 liter bottle of water. My last 3 cruises, I just took the one from the room and they either didn't charge me for it (it never showed on my bill or as a later charge) or used the 'coupon' on my S&S card. But you can choose to get one from any bar instead.

You also get a complimentary drink/cocktail on cruises 5 night or longer. Redeemable at any bar on the last night after 5pm. Weird that it's so specific, but whatever, it works for me.

The pin has to be picked up sometime before the last two days of the cruise. Again, no idea why the timing is so specific.

I've never seen the information or letter in my room for the loyalty perks - I just looked it up on the website once I hit gold and keep a screenshot on my phone for reference while cruising

Yes, Carnival clearly is trying not to provide this perk unless you know about it. I bet it really does save them a lot yearly though. Just a really sneaky way to go about it.

I was specifically told by my room steward that the water of bottle in the room did not count as my free one and that I would be charged for that one.

That seems to be the likely outcome, especially if you were to just assume you could use it as your "freebie".
