Eurodam dry dock—what are the changes and updates?

New carpet often sheds for a while. I remember going to a conference in a hotel that had just opened a new wing. I saw lots of men in very nice business suits with lint on the bottom few inches of their trousers.

Yes common occurrence. Just an observation and I feel bad for the workers having more clean up

The gym also has new carpeting and lighting. It is well used. Lots of nice machines and a free weight area. Yes they have mats but they are extremely thin… basically just so you are laying on the mat not the floor people have been stepping on. If you are looking for those foam mats then no they don’t have those

Thanks for the information. That’s what I thought might be the case.  Hopefully I can get my knee to where the PTs aren’t needed.

There is absolutely nothing going on in that space. It has been empty all week

I agree with another poster that the recent decision about Lincoln Center not being full time probably did not give enough time to change dry dock contracts and changes to that area.

Too bad as there could have been better venues and utilization of that space.

DRedmond, or anyone with a Eurodam cruise soon, could you let me know if there are gym mats in the gym?

I’m doing some physical therapy exercises on my knee that involve laying down on the floor (well, on my IKEA gym mat that came from the kid’s area), but I don’t plan on flying that to Seattle in June!  Hopefully my knee will be much better by my cruise in June, but it would be great to know if I can still do the exercises.

Thank you,

Suzanna

I can't confirm they have mats on the Eurodam but they have had them on all the HAL ships we have sailed.

I swear I thought I saw a yoga class talked about somewhere - wouldn't they have yoga mats? Sure those may be thinner than is needed for knee PT, but then you can just roll it up, I'd think.

The mats in the gym on the Rotterdam were much thicker than the standard and hung on the wall.  The mats on the Nieuw Statendam were the thin yoga map type.

Before LC, was there a bar in Explorer's Lounge? It seems like a convenient place for a drink before dinner--just a short walk to the MDR.

Yes, shown on deckplans in 2016/2017.  I think the Eurodam had a refit that added LC in 2017 or 2018.

I am on the ship currently and commented above. Basically no Lincoln Center and they have not refurbished the room. Sitting there with a lone piano on the stage and empty chairs. They have not been on Main Stage either. Employees said new carpeting in dining areas and some new furnishing. I have never been on Eurodam before so can’t really say what’s different but could look if there are specific questions.

That is very VERY upsetting since one of the reasons we chose this over Celebrity is that we both loved Lincoln Center Stage! We don't really care for BB Kings and Billboard is normally competing with the casino slots noise. I had already heard that there is no America's test kitchen anymore. This is going to be a very long, boring 10 days ahead.

Losing LC is a big disappointment to me, too. Give the Step One company in the showroom a try. The dancers are very good and the way they are choreographed with the visuals is impressive. I think four of their shows in 10 days was too many.  LC used to accompany the BBC nature videos. I haven't heard what's happening with that now.

I did see that the dance company was listed in the app a few evenings. I don't think I'd be interested watching them 4 times as you said. I'm open minded about it and just hope that there is enough of a variety so that we are not extremely bored. A comedian and what looks like a guest vocalist was also listed but they were also listed on two different evenings. I am assuming that there is no singers and dancers cast on HAL. I will miss the LC and BBC Earth performance!

Our problem with the dance group,  when you cruise a lot; is how many times do you have to watch same show? BBC Earth, how many times do we have to watch the snake siege?

Lincoln Center musicians received some pretty high wages and one has to wonder was the decision to not offer full time performances a cost reduction decision?

Same here - my kids (who are all orchestral musicians) we’re looking forward to it. It seems like they took several things away and no distinct replacements. And there weren’t a lot of activities to start with.

Yes the new “library” is more like a small bookstore.

Where is the new library on the Eurodam ? Sorry if it was mentioned previously...I missed it.

Are they still showing that BBC Earth snake island thing where they are trying to eat the newly hatched iguanas / lizards? We saw that on Nieuw Amsterdam in 2018!

Well with Lincoln Center not full time I’m not sure. Will be on Eurodam next month and if it is still offered we won’t go. It was still being an act on Rotterdam last summer.

So were there any updates to the cabins during dry dock........new carpet, furniture, mattress, etc.?

There does seem to be new carpet in he stateroom. Mattress is not new. Doesn’t seem like the furniture, couch is new either. Balcony furnishings definitely not new. Out outside handle is even falling off

Did you report this to the guest services or housekeeping?  Will they send someone to fix it?  I had a small maintenance issue on Rotterdam in November and the man came and fixed it the next day.

Honestly never thought of that. Probably should have. Will mention it tomorrow. To be honest we haven’t spent any time out on the verandah. Literally a couple of minutes a day if even that.
