When in doubt - ask!!

This 100%. My last Carnival cruise was in 2015. To this day I still receive casino offers from Carnival. I used URComped to parlay the most recent offer into a comped cruise on Celebrity. Veranda stateroom with $100 obc. It was matched and then I asked for an embarkation bottle of bubbly…which was granted as well. Never hurts to ask.

So, do you actually know or are you just guessing?

A lot of folks have said they have no idea how casino offers work, but you seem to throw out things that you think are facts...

See posts above.  Some data points are obvious..Carnival credit credit, status with land casinos especially MGM who will be  their sports betting partner.  Marketing data is part of my job but it really isn't rocket science.  Simply who has money and is willing to spend it.

lol, see posts above...obviously...not rocket science...so, basically, you don't know and guessing that's how casino offers are made...lol...

What part of this was confusing?  "Criteria we do not disclose"  That's marketing data.  What you think the response would be if Carnival published that they target people in zip codes with high area media income or women with frequent flyer status but no job or people with business credit cards?  You seem irritated that your wife gets the offers but statistics show wives are the family member most likely to book vacations.

Thanks for this discussion - as it remined me that I need to get to the cage and pick up our $25 promo chips in lieu of the tournament (I hope those never return - this alternative is MUCH better)!

@elaine, it's not confusing. I just find it funny that you think you know what the criteria is for casino offers, when in reality, you're just guessing like the rest of us.

Elaine talks very confidently about the info.  Honestly, until there is some reference to how she knows the info is accurate and verified, I take it as..."Well, that makes sense and could be true...But who knows!"

I'll say I 100% disagree that spending in the casino has nothing or little to do with it.  My partner and I were receiving similar offers until one cruise where I hardly gambled at all.  Coincidentally, my offers reduced.  My partner's didn't.  Nothing else changed, except for the amount I gambled.

It is right in the email response posted by the person who wrote directly to the casino dept. Marketing demos are how ALL businesses and charities find customers, determine where to locate new stores. McDonald's was famous for spending thousands in what used to be called "marketing studies" (pre Internet) to choose building sites for new restaurants.  Burger King would then build nearby.

Every case is a different situation and every casino is managed by people who have a set of guidelines they must work within.  Some flexibility but not much.  Just got off the conquest on a back to back and asked if points ended and restarted at zero and got many accurate responses that they reset at zero and a few snarky remarks about my question. I respectfully spoke with the host on the last day of 1st leg and asked if any offers should be possible. Said let’s see how your points & play are the 2nd leg.   On the 2nd day of 2nd leg Dinner in the Steakhouse.  Moral here is just have a conversation.  As far as what features are available like cash vs loaded onto your machine being driven by the age of the ship and conquest again proves that statement can be incorrect.  Conquest loads onto your card and generally you don’t even have to go to the cage as it’s loaded automatically although not working perfect in back to backs.  Conquest just a few weeks ago installed 2 cash out machines in which you insert your card and cash out your balance.  It won’t work above $1200 unless you take it out in smaller withdrawals.  Lastly, older ships like conquest are consistory getting the upgrades to the tables to new slot machines.  Clearly, ships like conquest is a high priority for the casino at sea folks given the number of casino sailing gs they offer so no surprise that they are making it a state of art ship/

Do you mind sharing  how many casino points you earned on your first leg and how many days that leg was?  It would help give me an idea about how many points-per-sailing-day earned you the comped dinner.   Thanks

Dang.   They should also give you special breakfasts, lunches, and snacks for that amount of play!  Lol.

Onboard comps are given at the discretion of the casino and vary each sailing.  Players are ranked based on points accrued and on "predicted" play each sailing.  Many players have 2000 points within hours of the casino opening. At $2.50 per point through the machine, the "free dinner" wasn't a deal.

6500 on 3 day and 7,000 on 4 day.  They offered dinner on day 2 of 4 day and had about 2500 points.  We were regulars on both legs of the back to back.

Thanks for the info.  Unfortunately, that is way more points than I generate on a daily basis.  Will still probably ask on my next cruise.

Given this isn’t a food pantry but rather “GAMBLING” so yes not free but neither is the cruise but many of us enjoy the chance of winning and the entertainment of the chance. I will accept an offered dinner regardless of I won a JACKPOT or donated.  It’s simply entertainment.

Points for table games are not as reflective/accurate.

Just off the Celebration. I played 5 or 6 nights (8 night sailing) at the $25 BJ table. Perhaps 3-4 hours per night, betting a minimum of $50/deal, max of $300 - probably averaging $100.

I earned 2600 points - lost thousands. Of course, could have easily won thousands too (well, not perhaps as easily- lol).

It was a Premier sailing, though I booked on a much better offer. The host never came by to the $25 table... No worries - I didn't want  massages, and already had pre-paid for specialty restaurants each night.

I agree 100% that on any given cruise the points assigned to a table game player are not reflective as a gauge of what the player won or lost on that cruise.  The points  likely reflect, though, the dollar amount the casino believes the player has wagered that cruise, and thus on average what the player would have lost that cruise given the house edge at that table game.   The concept of "average" here disguises the huge variance that can occur in player winnings/losings from cruise to cruise.   The casino could estimate what a player wins or loses from the buy-ins and color-ups at the beginning and end of each table session, but for various reasons this too is not necessarily an accurate gauge of wins/losses.

I contacted Players Club a few weeks ago when I was talking to my friend who barely gambles and found out her offers ($1000 OBC, free drinks everywhere, and free balcony rooms) were 100x better than my $100 OBC, free drinks in the casino, $100 pp interior rooms.  I spend hours in the casino and thousands of dollars while she isn't that interested and only joins me for maybe an hour each day and plays $300 per cruise tops.

Maybe it is time I start looking at other cruise lines.... It sounds like their programs are more straight forward and the offers may be better. (I am going to play in the casino either way, but seeing that some people get amazing offers while others get next to nothing with no rhyme or reason - or explanation - hasn't been sitting well with me.)

Here was the response:

Thank you for reaching out to Global Casino Services Team.

I received almost the exact same reply to an email that I had sent in- I have received wonderful offers for years. I took 2 elite cruises last year, when I got off the last in November received a free suite but now I do not have 1 offer? I sometimes wonder if Carnival knows what players club is doing. I have 3 cruises booked the rest of the year and None on Carnival, who I love and I just got to Diamond on the last cruise. Sad really.

Carnival marketing and casino marketing are two different depts.  Unless you have opted out of receiving emails/offers, you should check your Carnival.com account for current offers.
