I'm not sure you can remove them once onboard if they were prepaid. ? Are you sure.

They don't add them back on when they apply grats to everyone's account?

I booked my cruises on the CCL website. Under manage your cruise and I believe booking details you can pick dining time, bed configuration, CCL vacation protection and prepaid gratuities. I checked prepay but I’m sure you can go back to your booking details and uncheck. Try and see if it works! 🤞

No.  Basically, removing prepaid grats is the same as removing the grats that are automatically applied to your S&S.  This is ONLY if you have the prepaids removed while on board.  If you remove them prior to sailing, then they will add the grats to your S&S account just like everyone else's.
