I pack food grade clear disposable gloves especially for the casino.

I do the same.  And to answer the question of @SargassoPirate, because I'm a blackjack player and don't like to touch the chips with my bare hands.  I suppose slots players should do the same.

Do you not wash your hands before you touch anything going in your mouth or touching your face with your hands?  What about other common use and commonly touched surfaces and objects - a salt or pepper shaker, for example?

The reason I'm asking is I touch all sorts of things on a ship, and in the world in general, and don't give it a second thought because I wash my hands or at least sanitize them before I touch food, etc.

In basic health classes, I would teach hand washing by using petri dishes with soy agar and having students place an unwashed hand on one, a quick rinsed hand on another, a 20 second hand wash on another, and a hospital scrub on yet another.  A few days later I would show them the results of what was growing on each one.

All one has to do is break the chain of contamination between the surface touched and your food, mouth, or eyes.

Wow!  Your students have four hands?  Just kidding.  Actually, I think that's a great demonstration of the importance of hand washing.

Guess you missed my original post #69 on this thread.  I spent the first 17 years of my working life as a clinical microbiologist in the labs of acute-care hospitals.  That statement should have answered your questions.

All one has to do is break the chain of contamination between the surface touched and your food, mouth, or eyes.

Gee, I didn't know that.  So thanks for the lesson on the pathogenesis of microbial infections.  I guess I must have slept through that lecture in my internship.

I did read your post #69, but I am still curious about the seemingly ubiquitous use of plastic gloves as if they have some sort of magical sanitizing properties when all they really do is spread contamination from one surface to another.

Sit and watch food service workers wearing gloves and notice how many surfaces they touch wearing the same pair of gloves.

Returning to the topic of this thread...although no cruise line requires covid vaccination proof anymore (at least that I am aware of), there are some countries that still do.  For example, we have a cruise this winter that embarks in Chile and they still require proof of covid vaccination or a negative PCR test to enter the country when we fly in.  As others have said, you also never know when things might change while you are on the cruise, so there is no reason not to bring your proof of vaccination, since it theoretically could be required in the middle of your cruise.

You sure about those Chile requirements?

Hmmm... Who you gonna trust on this one?  US State Department or Government of Chile?  BTW, the UK Government agrees with the Chilean Government...

I did some more research and it appears it is not required...I'm very surprised the US State Department's website is wrong.  In any case, we are going to bring our vaccination cards along.

We had to go through immigration here in San Francisco and at the bottom of the information paper they gave us they recommended to carry proof of vaccination if you were going ashore because some establishments may require it.

San Francisco, California??

I wonder what the science behind that is?

The amount of errors on US government websites throughout all of covid was very eye opening to me. Pre-covid I had pretty much trusted sites that ended in .gov ..... Post covid not-so-much.

An embarrassment really.

Here is a couple articles. I suspect this may come as a surprise to many.

Say Goodbye to the Covid 19 Vaccination Card

Of course, if you elected to get the shot and the boosters, certainly the little card can't take up much room and it may make you feel better to have it along.

Wow.  Dueling URLs!  LOL

It just illustrates the importance of being careful with online information.

So I just read with this morning’s news that they have stopped printing the vaccination cards! If you have yours, it’s still accepted as proof, but they won’t continue being offered.

Fortunately, I live in a state where I'm allowed to access my records online and even save a digital card in my phone's wallet that will update as I get new boosters. Even easier than the paper card.

Restrictions end, and they sometimes begin again when events warrant, and I would be pretty wary of believing in the updated-ness of a website from a country that might not have a robust internet team. And you're not going to be able to just show up at the border and get in because "your website says..."

World travelers have to get a lot more vaccinations than just Covid to get to all the places they want to go - at some point, one has to decide if they want to see the world or uphold their political beliefs.
