Casino slot cashout observation

Recommended Posts

Onboard Symphony TA now, didn't know what happens if someone walks away from a slot machine without cashing out... Wife was playing video poker, another lady next to us (total stranger) gets up and leaves her machine. After a few minutes, the other lady hasn't come back. Her machine has $10 in credit & her casino account says Karen with xxx points. We ask another lady on the other side of us if she knows who it was but didn't. So I go to Cashier cage and a slot technician comes back with me.

He says there's nothing they can do to put the credit back into Karen's account, and it will disappear. As soon as he leaves, the machine changed back to the idle state and I can't collect the $10. I didn't want to be accused of theft, but I was surprised they'd not make any effort to salvage the players funds. Oh well, live and learn.

The purpose of the casino is to separate you from your money.

Because you have to insert your card in the machine and they knew the name "Karen" they obviously could have contacted her.  I knew someone who walked away leaving $900 credit in her machine and they did contact her.

I guess you could have hit the cash out now knowing the outcome and waited for her to return, or just let it dissolve into the air at their expense like what just happened.

If they don’t return in the time you play, you can throw it away. I guess if she is very recognizable you could watch for her every day in the casino and give her the slip later on.  Now, if her card was in the machine they should have easily been able to credit her account.

All I know is, there is no way I’d leave money in the machine even if it was 50 cents. Hopefully the $10 was all she lost, but I doubt it.

In March on the Wonder, I sat down one morning  at a machine, put my slip in played a couple hits, looked at the amount of cash left, and it was  about $1000 more than it should’ve been. I pulled my ticket out, went to the cashier Told then there had been money left on the machine. The tech was able to open up the machine to see when I had put my money in,  my hits, and what my net  would’ve been. I got my money accordingly, and the casino kept the other. They told me they will check the machine, look at the casino card used and hold the $$$$ money till the rightful owner came back.  Barely got a thank you from the casino staff. I wonder what would’ve happened had I drawn down the money in play.

But then then  karma happens. The next day, I hit the major bonus (over $900 )  on dancing drums on an $.88 bet so that made me happy.
