Any 2022/2023 Fort Lauderdale B2B pax?

If you recently, or kind of recently did a cruise with a turn around day in Fort Lauderdale, did you have to leave the ship? Order did they sequester you somewhere until the ship zeroed out?

Just did a turn around in Fort lauderdale.  I left the ship around 8am and spent the day out and about.  Others I was with, met in the lounge by 9am as instructed, they waited for all passengers to show up and escorted off the ship to go through customs.  They waited in the terminal until the ship was zeroed and they were allowed back on.

We had to meet in world stage and were escorted off until the ship was zeroed.   We had a long,  unfortunate wait because two ’ privileged’ passengers didn’t think they had to get off in spite of letter in cabin, multiple announcements etc.  They showed up in bathrobes  hours late.  😳. Don’t be that guy.   The faster the ship zeros, the faster you get to reboard.

Yep, been there done that. Actually had to do it twice during our B2B2B cruises this year (31 days on Rotterdam). Very long, very boring (although the guy in charge of the transition did his absolute best). Gather in the main theater, wait and wait for everyone to get there, and then exit the ship. Go through the face recognition screening, wait and wait again to reboard. 

 

We're doing a B2B in 2024 and already booked a Fort Lauderdale shore excursion. Fool me once.

We must have been on the same B2B or I guess there could have been other "privileged" on my B2B.

Those people should be made to wait to reboard for as long as the first passenger to arrive had to wait for them.

Not to "plug" another cruise line, but having "lived" it ..... Princess does the transition so so much better. Did a B2B on Princess right after our Rotterdam 31 days. Just like on HA, we were relegated to the main stage. But in this case one of the Entertainment crew was in charge. He was so much fun and did music trivia while we waited. We were disembarked by groups (instead of en masse). It was still a long process, but so much more pleasurable than HA's version. 

 

In 2024 we're doing a B2B on Princess followed by a B2B on Holland America. Only booked a Shore Excursion during the HA cruise.

My experience also on Rotterdam in November 2022.  We had to wait a long time at the World Stage before we could exit to the terminal due to other issues, not late passengers.  One pax started yelling at the staff person who was trying to keep us all informed about the delay.  As if it was the staff person's fault!  Other waiting pax told him to quiet down!  

 

If everyone and everything goes as planned it's not too bad of a wait, but next time I'll probably go out somewhere for a while instead like @canadarocks says.

Our last B2B was a few years ago. We went to the main showroom and did not have to leave the ship. We still had two people who they had to track down in a hot tub on the Lido deck though.

I've read that the waiting onboard and not leaving still happens sometimes🤞.... not sure about Fort Lauderdale though....

Twice on B2B turning at San Diego (2019) there were only about 25 to 30 in transit passengers.  The Immigration officials came onboard and had us all report to them in one of the small rooms (Hudson?) with our passports and then we could carry on with our day going to breakfast or whatever.  The only negative for this night owl was the meeting was at 06:00 - 06:30!!  I had told my stewards to take the day off from my cabin, so I went back to bed for a little while.

I have always had to exit the ship in Ft. Lauderdale and wait for the zero count to reboard.

We stayed on the ship in Fort Lauderdale, twice. But, like I said, it was a while ago.

October 21st 2023, we (200+) stayed in the Nieuw Amsterdam Show Room until our "privileged" passengers decided to appear (IIRC 10:20 AM).  We were then seated inside the terminal for about 10 more minutes as the CBP facial recognition system was down.  Two agents checked our passports and we rejoined the around 10:40 AM.
