South Florida Weather This Weekend?

Who has the best information available for the forecasted high seas and possible severe weather updates for this weekend’s sailings out of south or central Florida? Lots of handwringing going on by folks on the page not to be named. Thanks!

Not wringing hands, but we are scheduled to fly in to FLL Friday evening for a cruise from Port Everglades on Saturday. Keeping an eye on the National Weather Service page - https://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.php?site=MFL&textField1=26.1425&textField2=-80.1395&e=0

Seems like the worst should be over by then, but with two cruises this year re-routed due to storms, it might be just my luck that there's an issue.

Best wishes for the folks in South FL! It's gonna be breezy!

Nobody has any better information than what you are finding on the internet.  Check the weather channel for a general idea of what you might experience.  But overall, they are no more accurate than the weather forecasters in your own town.

Our sailing out of port  Canaveral  tomorrow is going to Mexico instead of CoCoCay and the Bahamas. Ship is the Mariner 12/14-12/18. Fine with us we love sea days.

Oh wow that’s really interesting. When did they let you know about that change? It really makes no difference to us, but we just would be grateful to know if they are going to change our itinerary which is 12/15 to 12/24 on explorer out of Miami. Thanks so much! Hope you have a great trip.🤓

From the National Data Buoy Center. If your going west through the Florida Straits-its going to be a rough ride. I am sure they will hug the Coast of Cuba or go south and around. Captains Call.

It has been an odd system for December! It is windy here in Miami, gust in the 40mph range. Not a ton of rain yet, but a constant drizzle and cloudy for two days now, expect it to be the same Friday and Saturday. Saturday there might actually be some thunderstorms as it has been rain and wind but no lighting. With these winds not surprised to see changes to itineraries.

Just arrived home this morning completing a 4 night sailing on Allure out of Port Canaveral. Dec. 11-15 Yesterday we were supposed to visit Coco Cay. The winds started out about 30 kts getting up to around 52 kts. Watched as Coco Cay went by in the distance. The ride to Port Canaveral was windy all the way home. The ship is so big that we only experienced a mild sway but it was certainly noticeable. Looking forward to hearing how the 3-day sail to Nassau and Coco Cay goes this weekend.

Port of Miami is closed this morning due to weather / wind

as of 9AM there are 7 cruise ships which normally would be well into off load ... loitering outside of the port .... it appears the first is just now being allowed into the approach channel .....

it appears that due to the wind the Captain of the Port is requiring tug escort / assist .....
