Ocean view cabin on ascent

Ocean view in very front of ship could hear some wind.  Oceanview on sides and down low can perhaps be quicker to get to and from.

For the most part I like Oceanview as you get the light, but do not have to tolerate balcony noise and the ocean view are a little less money too.

But if you go on Oasis class or Quantum class ship and have an ocean view room in very from facing area, be prepared to hear some loud music and bass from the crew bar down under the bow as they have stairs and an opening where the music can drift up.  Yes, I have had it happen on three different ships and it takes a struggle with guest services to resolve.  And of course nearby passengers who also hear the noise, are reluctant to go and complain.  Wasn't I lucky.

The OP is looking for info on the Celebrity Ascent a E class ship, not Royal Caribbean ships.

We have one booked on the Beyond, this year. We were advised by the next cruise rep to make sure that we are booking an OV on Deck 3, to either pick one on the port side or to check if we were not directly under the magic Carpet if the cabin is on the starboard side.

If you can look up some deck plans, you can see where the magic carpet would be and also if you are under any "noise makers" like the casino, or close to the theater etc.

Enjoy your cruise!

Just off the Beyond in an ocean view on deck nine facing forward. Large cabin. No noise except for the anchor in tender ports. These are deluxe ov on decks 8 & 9 forward, and already have a b2b booking on the Ascent.

Hey Hal! We have one booked for 2.11 sailing on deck 8. 8103. We have some bids for move up but will be happy with OV just the same. It’s our first cruise. I’ve studied cruising since May 2023 since we booked our first two with X. We are now talking/planning our third. Cruising is easily addictive lol!

I’m not sure if you know due to your personal cabin selections, but do you think it’s cool to just stay in OV? We have bids on 4 different types- Deluxe Porthole. Aqua, SV, regular IV and CC. Anyone have thoughts on this? For me I’ve grown up on family boats and a yacht and personally love the movement. It puts me to sleep! And we will be up early to go out and watch the sunrises every day, so port docking noise is no concern. I appreciate anyone with good feedback and advice. Thank you!!

Aren’t 90% of the cabins on E class ships oceanview cabins 🤔🤣

been in ov on Apex at the front of the ship , it was fine , it was cool watching them do a medical evacuation off the coast of France

Been in IV on Apex, not much different than an OV

We have had an IV, and it has good/bad points, but now prefer the large OV at the front.
Good : it makes the physical balcony area part of the room, can be closed off, lots of sunlight.

Bad: air conditioning goes off if window is opened, window can be controlled by ship, no means of preventing light disturbing someone sleeping in cabin with “balcony” doors shut.

Either location, have a great cruise - cabin time is mostly sleeping, showering, and changing - after dark an IV is mostly wasted.

Honestly that is a great perspective! I ended up pulling all 5 move up bids after I posted this morning. We are pretty excited to have the bow view.

We are going on our first cruise on this sailing, have a second booked on Reflection to Aruba etc, and are looking at the options for a third. We have SV for our Reflection cruise. But these are anniversary trips. The first cruise is so exciting, next one for year 10 of marriage super exciting, and after that I think we will just do inside. I have to sleep in a cave at home with blackout curtains and I think it will honestly be fabulous for us! I appreciate your feedback and time!!! Happy sailing!!

nice choices! We were on the Reflection last January to the ABC islands in a port side balcony, loved it! Reconsider the inside cabin if the oceanview is only slightly more - nice to see the daylight views.

Are you saying that the light just comes through.  No curtains or darkness?

Thank you! I have read, I believe, that the waters are a little rougher down that way. Hoping it’s not too crazy to use the balcony!

We were in the ABC Islands four times last year on cruises and never had disruptive seas!
Doing Eastern Caribbean next month and A&C in May and November.

The IV has curtains that can be closed, it’s the portion between the “balcony” and the rest of the cabin that is lacking darkening curtains.
