Rare Travelicious Posted February 12 #731 Share Posted February 12 Glad you had a nice trip, or I guess I should say "vacation," @graphicguy. I appreciate your thoughts on the Prima, as well as the photos. Along with @mking8288, we will be boarding her in 75 days for the trans-Atlantic cruise. 1

Good tip but I changed bills at guest services twice. Never a line.

UKstages Posted February 12 #738 Share Posted February 12 (edited) really? wow. they had free cookies, but charged for their other desserts? you sure the cookies weren't in that standard indulge dessert corral? the one with the annoying acrylic doors that you have to open to reach awkwardly placed dessert items? I stand corrected. The cookies were in the Kiosk just outside of CoCos! I just opened the door for the kiosk and took the cookies. No one stopped me. They had other deserts there, too! 1

I should have a pretty good idea of other "lurkers" that do not post. Allright, welcome abroad ahead soon, we are going to have quite a crowd. P.S. Appear to have data corruption "issues" with the online roster, if you see this - have a look as I just posted to ask another recent CC'er for feeback. Easy with any "chats" over there as - your thoughts, please. Dan, sorry & apologize for sidetracking your report.

Perhaps, the crew members were busy or pre-occupied with other tasks. There is no way that NCL is going start charging for freshly baked cookies ... oh, wait - nevermind, anything goes these days. 7 hours ago, LloydJr said: That just has to be the most popular machine in the casino! 🤑 LOL, it was "giving" out brand new & freshly minted $5 USD when we tried out its bill breaking functions. Cashiers behind the "cage" have crisp, brand new $1 ... they are "prepared" What about $2 ones ?? 😄

Rare mking8288 Posted February 13 #744 Share Posted February 13 Nice pix of the spare parts & propeller ... Have a trivia question for you & others ... where & how does the Prima do a medevac at sea, as it does happen when critical acute patient in need of higher level of shore-based medical/trauma care ? On other typical NCL ships in the fleet, the bow area is quickly set-up and use vs. using the top/upper deck (which doesn't appear possible based on design & configurations) - trying to imagine if Deck 8 AFT is probable (my guess is no). Forward bow section (Deck 😎 was closed & roped off during our TA while at sea ... for safety reasons as it was rather windy going 18 to 20 knots) ... I suppose that is still likely the logical location. Rescue copter will have a much longer drop and hoist to bring up the transfer in a basket stretcher.. MagnoliaBlossom Posted February 13 #745 Share Posted February 13 When we were on the Dawn off the coast of southern England they did a rescue by helicopter. Dropped the basket, waiting for pt to be loaded then came back to retrieve. It took about an hour and a half. Very interesting to watch. We could not dock because of hgh winds and waves, so it was a very tricky maneuver, but eventually it was done.

Rare graphicguy Posted February 13 Author #747 Share Posted February 13 In the Bridge tour, I did not see a helipad. And, the crew has a 270º view of the bow of the ship. So, not sure where or how they'd do an air rescue.

Fogfog Posted February 14 #749 Share Posted February 14 TY Pete! About a doz years back we were told by Capt/officers that there was going to be a shortage worldwide of pilots. And they hoped more would move into the field. Many were aging out. It is a vital job. It is something we look forward to- watching them embark-debark
