NFL playoff games in the aquatheater (Harmony)

Recommended Posts

The Cowboys play the Packers next Sunday at 3:25 in the first playoff game. The app says that "the Patriots vs. the Cowboys" will be shown in the aquatheater at that time. That's nonsense since the Cowboys wouldn't play an AFC team in the first-round of the playoffs and also because the Patriots didn't even make the playoffs. I'm assuming it will be Dallas vs. Green Bay at that time. Has anybody watched a football game in the aquatheater? I guess we'll run to the side to watch sailaway during the commercials. 😄

It's been pretty clear to me that RCI has a contract with the NFL to show all of the games.  Even the game that will be streaming on peacock.  The only "twist" for the offseason is that they may actually be ESPN feeds instead of the nominal networks- that was mentioned during one of the games this weekend that the games will be on ESPN Caribbean- which are the consistent two ESPN channels on RCI.

On our recent Symphony cruises, there were a bunch of people watching games in the Aqua theater, as well as a bunch in Playmakers- who were showing as many games as they could at the same time.

We watched the NFC\AFC Championship games last year...it started with the Eagles game just at Playmakers, but as the crowd grew, they flipped it to the Aquatheater, as well.  But the AFC game ended up being just on at the bars since actual Aqua shows were scheduled at that time.

I'm not doubting you, but I'm curious how you know this, particularly the part about the game on Peacock?

The game on Peacock is ONLY affected by the US feeds. For example, Canadians will see the game on the normal NFL feed network. You will be on a ship and not subject to the US feed (in fact as mentioned above you will be seeing the Caribbean feed) so no worries about Peacock.

It's a conclusion watching all of the games recent only cruises.  Especially walking by Playmakers and seeing them show 3 games at the same time for both afternoon game slots.  And then listening to the MNF game Saturday- pointing out that they will broadcast the games outside of the US.

That's why I said it's "clear to me" as opposed to being certain.

Given how much money the casino rakes in for RCI, I'd wager it has something to do with that.

Do you know if they showed the recent game that was only on Peacock?  That one (including the upcoming Peacock-only playoff game) is kind of an outlier.

No.  But as pointed out before, peacock is about the US market, which the ships are outside of.

Again, seeing so many games, and noting how gambling has saturated the market, I see no reason why the games would not be broadcast somewhere.  RCI stands to make more money showing them.

I'm a huge nfl football fan (mostly Dallas Cowboys but i'll watch whatever game is on!!) and I've never missed a game at sea. Even on our Explorer cruise in Greece/Croatia this past September i was able to watch a Cowboy game in one of the bars (luckily, late night broadcast after all the soccer games were over!).

For Oasis class ships, i've watched a couple of games at the Aqua Theater, they also were showing in Playmakers on multiple screens.

I recently watched Cowboys/Eagles in the Aqua Theater with lots of fans from both sides, it was a lot of fun!

Enjoy!!

I watched games in September in the English Pub on the Promenade on Harmony .

One of the games there was a lady clapping really loud after almost every play , whether it was offense or defense on the field. Her husband sitting next to her had a real sad face .😌

I felt sorry for him.

I left early.

I just remembered one thing to add- the ships showed the Thursday night streaming only game from Prime Video.  If that adds anything.

Cowboys Game is on Fox Network at 4:30 Eastern time on Sunday

The one Game ONLY on Peacock is the game on Saturday Night, Miami Dolphins at the Kansas City Chiefs at 8:00Pm Eastern

Onboard Vision for a December 2023 cruise, the Royal app listed a Monday night NFL game & a Tuesday night NFL game. There were Tuesday games due to covid but none since 2020.

Given that the games that were ONLY streaming on Prime were shown on the ships, I'd wager that the game will also be shown on board.  Pretty much no difference between Prime and Peacock in that respect.

My experience is that the schedule of games in the app isn't accurate until you get on board and hook up to Royal's network.  Assume you will be able to see the games you want to see.

Agree!

When we boarded Explorer in September, the first thing i did (well, almost the first thing - i was in Italy after all and SO excited to be there!!!) but anyway - one of the first things i did was go searching for where they might show the Cowboy game that Sunday night (late because of the time difference). I was first told at each of the bars that "no, we're not showing NFL football at all, the World Cup is on".....so i was resigned to them not showing it at all....then after dinner and casually walking thru the bar on the way to the casino and looked up and there was the cowboy game on the screen!!!

Don't dispair, it'll be showing somewhere!
