What extra stuff is available on new app when onboard (as opposed to pre cruise)

Wondering what new stuff will appear on app once board on cruise? I gather there is the facility to find party members (I can't find it now, pre-cruise) - is that so and what else is there to look forward to?

How does the communication between parties onboard? Is it similar to texting?

Is the app faster on the ship?  Seems to take a long time to load now.

Yes and no. You can send a message but the person who receives it is not notified. The app must be manually checked for a message.

 

Of course ordering room service as well as Ocean Now items (drinks, snacks, etc) is available on the ship and not off the ship.

 

Port descriptions are typically not available off the ship.

 

Crew Chat is not available off the ship.

 

Checking your folio is not available off the ship.

If you and others in your party all have wi-fi it's easier to communicate via Messenger, WhatsApp, iMessage, etc.

The Locate Your Companions (or whatever it's called) is nice. When we would be meeting up with friends, could see if they were on their way (or if they were waiting for us!).

Never used Ocean Now. Crew Chat was handy for questions for Guest Services that didn't need an immediate answer, although they were pretty quick to respond.

You'll have the room service menu, daily MDR menus, fully populated activities listing, stateroom amenities for order (robes, extra hangers, pillows, etc), stateroom account, crew chat, etc

Once on board is anything different the old and new app?

If you order additional pillows or hangers do you have to be in the cabin to receive them or will they leave them?

In my experience, they leave them for you ; you don't have to be there to receive them.

Yup. Gives you a count under the package portion - especially handy if traveling with someone else in your cabin as bartenders tend to put both drinks on one account instead of each individual account.

(The old app showed it also).

How do you get the bartenders to distribute the drinks properly so they don't all end up on one account? Or is the allowance basically doubled for two people on one account in one cabin ie 30 drinks allowed per cabin rather than 15 on sep tabs?

Good question.   It shouldn't matter as 2 people get a total of 30 drinks.  Run out on one just use the other.

Do you have to take both medallions to the bar to ensure you get it credited to both tabs?
