RileyFox Posted August 2 #1 Share Posted August 2 If we get adjoining rooms with our friends, can we remove the dividers/partitions to create one big balcony? Or is this only true on with a Deluxe Veranda Suites? Thanks Reily Fox Future Rotterdam passenger
Cruise Suzy Posted August 2 #2 Share Posted August 2 @RileyFox The balcony dividers are not removeable. However, the outermost section (nearest the rail) can be opened to allow access to adjoining balconies. Just ask your stewards.
julia Posted August 2 #3 Share Posted August 2 The balcony partition can be opened by your cabin steward. Also, there are "adjoining cabins" which have interior doors that open, they are indicated with a plus sign (+) next to them on the deck plans.

Called "connecting cabins" bc any cabin next door is adjoining!

Rare VMax1700 Posted August 2 #8 Share Posted August 2 It is only the circled bit that can be opened.

Actually it is not removed, it swings on hinges and opened then locked open in place. We have 3 Vista Suites in a row booked this month on the Volendam and we will have balcony door opened between all 3 cabins. Blackduck59 Posted August 3 #10 Share Posted August 3 Remember opening these partitions is NOT a DIY project. Ask your cabin steward to sort it for you.

Not sure about the Volendam, but on the Zaandam, the other R Class HAL ship, the hinged portion is next to the ship, not at the railing side of the verandah. So it doesn't give the same open feeling. My sisters and I have immensely enjoyed the open verandah partition on the Zuiderdam during the last two world cruises.
