I may have missed it, but what cabin number are your in? I think our room is at the end of a hallway, C752. If you do not want to post your carbin number can you at least tell me if this is near your location, and what you think of the location. Thanks for your posts, you are really making me excited for our cruise, even though we have a long time to go until December. Thanks!

While I disagree with a few of wOkie's points, they are generally in line iwthmine. However, the menus I found very easy to read and the food great, much more "spiced up" and tasty that the prevcious Pricness standard fare.

Interesting that one CC suite occupier also complained about the same wuite, withthe ping pong noise above.

Note: the speciality restraunts (Sabatinis and crownGrille) also upgraded their menues, both the overall quality and some of the items.

Thanks for the updates of your cruise. Is Brett Cave the piano man in Crooners? We were lucky that he was on our last two cruises, Golden (British Isle 9/06) and Crown (caribbean 2/07). He is British and extremely entertaining. I believe he said he was going over to the Emerald for awhile and then doing the British Isle itinerary for the summer. We hope he is on the Emerald next January when we are. Enjoy your cruise. We will be doing the Mediterrean in 2008 and probably on the Emerald.

I took the ship's escorted tour which didn't even come close to showing half of what this ship has to offer. I have just returned to the Internet area on deck 5 to tell you about the area directly aft of the Horizon Court. This area is called Caribe Cafe which at first glance looks like an extension of the Horizon Court. WRONG. There is ANOTHER buffet food line back there much like the Horizon Court buffet line. At that back side deck 15 buffet line they were serving this morning everthing hot and cold that you would have expected to find in the regular breakfast Horizon Court buffet line. AND it was totally UNCONGESTED at breakfast prime time ! ! ! I'm impressed to say the least.

You didn't need a ship's tour; you did just fine all by yourself. I am enjoying every bit of your posting; very entertaining. I'm laughing my way through it.

Would like further comment (if you experience it) on Cafe Caribe dinners. We are on the Caribbean Princess June 3rd and I've heard a lot of favorable comments about the seafood. Were they also doing omelets back there at breakfast time?

Thanks for keeping us up to date and enjoy your cruise.

Pia

Yes, it is Brett. We were in Crooner's almost every night on the first cruise.

The Cafe Caribe has a different theme every day at lunch and dinner so it has different food from what is offered at Horizon Court. There was an Asian theme with sushi, hot and sour soup, and stir fry dishes. There was an Indian theme with curries and tandoori chicken. The Princess Patters will list the theme for each day.

wOkie,

I'm enjoying the live reports that are informative and humorous. Thanks for sharing your cruise experience here at CC.

DH and I are booked on the Emerald for a Caribbean voyage on 2/4/07 so I am going to be hanging on every word of your live posts and, hopefully, a comprehensive review upon your return :) .

Bon Voyage!

Chris

No omelets in Cafe Caribe on the Caribbean Princess. You will have to get it made in Horizon Court and come back and eat in Cafe Caribe.....much quieter and lots more tables available.

Will do. I only want one every other day, if at all. Now DH, he needs his eggies every morning. Even makes his own at home.

Some family members will be aboard the Emerald July 4th and I'm trying to get as much up front advance info as possible.

Thanks for your updates, W0kie. It sounds like the aft dining room is the same as it is on Caribbean Princess. I personally think those banquettes with tables for two look out of place. At least the entrance to the dining room is much nicer and thankfully there were restrooms in a convenient location - an improvement sorely needed from the original Grand-class design.

Enjoy your cruise.

I expected the ship to have Magradomes, if that's what they are called, covering the mid ship pools but not on this ship. All pools are open air.

That's because it has MUTS - Princess ship's with MUTS don't have a magradome (the Grand may have both, but I can't remember right now.)

The Coral, Island, Golden and Star have covered pools....

Welcome Home BassetHound, Nomar's Girl or everyone else from the April 11 cruise. I know you had Princess Shuttle tickets @ a cost per person. Was there any option to purchase a multi-day water bus pass from the Terminal, PCL or on board a shuttle boat (especially good value for those who would be staying post cruise). Is there a Terminal Building? Did you notice Private Water Taxi's on your day of dis-embarkation?

Thanks again for any news.

I am enjoying reading everyone's reviews on the inaugural sailing of the Emerald Princess. We just booked for the Feb. 24/08 sailing, so I'm sure all the little things that were not working on the inaugural sailing will be fixed by then.

Did any of you try out the mini-putt golf? Just wondering if passengers have to pay for that?

We are in C752 with great steward. Unlimited water taxi rides came with our Venice Pass which can be purchased at the Venice airport. Only rarely do the water taxis and bus to town check tickets. Posting from an Internet Cafe in Corfu because the ship's Internet went down yesterday and is still down today. We are now 8 hours ahead of Tulsa time. New notes in random order. Cabin bathroom light warms up slowly. Probably sone of those neon bulbs. Dubrovnik cost to walk on wall is ten dollars. Wall money taker from multiple reports is a crook who overcharges at every opportunity and shortchanges you. Ship glided into Dubrovnik port silently with all motors turned off using its own momentum That was really cool. Scanner users: Bridge on 457.55 and Excursions on 457.575. Perfect service in Sabitini's at 6 pm, Lousy service in Sabitini's at end of dinner at 8 pm. Coffee in Sabitinis is "Americano" which I love. Same foamy coffee as you get at Nero's in London. That coffee is by far the BEST coffee on the Emerald Princess and you can have all you want as part of the $20 pp Sabitini's price. Motown show was reported to be good last night. We missed it. DW is having a wonderful time on the beautuful Emerald Princess and is not complaining. I found the Wedding Chapel. The piano was on the floor on its backside waiting for the crew to upright it and bolt it down. The wedding chapel was very unimpressive. Also found the Sanctuary. It was much larger than expected. Part open air and part covered by a metal top. The MUTS has balcony type seating on the far side of the MUTS swimming pool. You'll see when I get back and post my pictures. I bought 30 pictures of the ship from the photo people to add to the many I've taken. Off now to lunch in Corfu. Wife is getting hungry. Bus from port to town Dubrovnik was 10 E PP RT. In Corfu you must get your own taxi from port or walk about 3 miles. 10 E for Corfu taxi one way I think. Ta ta for now.
