Hawkfish - glad that you're having a wonderful time! We'll be there on Oct. 12th, so tell them to have plenty of chocolate aboard!!

Thanks for answering all of these questions and giving your daily report. Looking forward to the next installment! Oh, glad to hear that your fall didn't stop your fun. And thanks for the reminder about those stairs!

and also, who did you book the hotel through? That's a decent rate.

Not really, we booked the Intercon through EasyClickTravel dot com and got $143.99 rate for the same room! Try them. We leave on the 15th. Can't wait.

I have one question Hawkfish...are there two parades or one on your cruise. I know the other parade is a pirate parade but we were under the impression they alternate parades from week to week. Our roll call group are pirates as you can see and were hopeing we would get the pirate parade. But it looks like if there is only one for each sailing then we get the Socalicious instead of the pirate. Could you inquire for us....thanks so much. Glad you are O.K. after fall.

it was a SPECTACULAR fall. I mean, if you are going to fall - do it with style and it sounds like you did just that. Glad to hear you were not hurt to bad - I would use this as an excuse to get another massage! Enjoy the rest of your vacation.

what is like around the pools during sea day - was it hard to get a seat? we always stayed on the deck above pool level on AOS and there were literally thousands of beds up there free

Hawkfish you rock! Thanks for bringing us along with you. The anticipation is tremendous now, I can't think of anything else and I still have a little over two weeks of waiting!!

Sorry about your fall - It's my biggest fear. So glad to hear you weren't hurt worse.

Let us know how Chops is...we're planning on going one night too.

Thanks!

hawkfish - So sorry about your fall! Glad you are doing ok. I fell in the casino years ago & sprained my foot so I know how you feel!

I was wondering if the ship has done any rocking with Hurricane Felix out there.

I got the same hotel from Hotwire for $84 ($101 with taxes/fees). Definitely worth trying hotwire (see betterbidding DOT com to find out how to do it).

Hawkfish, I'm glad you are okay from your fall...I would be mortified!! It's so great that you went ahead with dinner after that, I know I'd probably slink back to my room if it happened to me... :)

I'm loving this live review...less than 3 weeks until I'm there myself!

Hawkfish....great review so far.

Can't wait until it's our turn.

I am not bringing my laptop but will need to use the internet for a few minutes...

1. Can you pay by the minute?

2. We are platinum, do you get a coupon to use for that? How does it work?

Thanks.

Maggieq-

On our last cruise we received an internet coupon in our coupon book (we're platinum). I believe it was 15 free minutes. Of course that goes quick!

1. Yes, you can pay by the minute, it's 50 cents a minute. You can also buy a package deal, $50.00 for 150 minutes(comes to .33 cents a min) and some other $35.00 and $25.00 package, where you pay a little more a minute than the $50.00 package.

2. I don't know about the platnuim coupon, I am Diamond, received a coupon for $20.00 off internet, but I was not allowed to apply it towards a package. It had to be used on the 50 cent pay by the minute plan. They do Not have a weekly plan, such as some of the other ships have.

You will Love the Liberty!! Beautiful Ship, excellent Service, I know I did!!

Though we have had a full day - today was St. Maarten, and we took a full-day island that had been arranged by someone in our group. 12 of us paid $45 each for a 7-hour tour by van. Victor took us to Orient Beach for almost 2 hours, then around the French northside, back over to the Dutch side to Maho Beach, and then back to Philipsburg. We spent two (very HOT) hours at Maho and got some great shots of the planes coming in. Lunch was delicious - burgers, ribs and dogs griled in the open air bar. A nice place to meet a few of the locals and relax. For anyone wanting to visit here, be warned - much of the beach has eroded, so don't expect anything at all like Orient. There is still some sand, but not really enough to set of the day.

Last night, we hit Portofino. Our reservation was for 9pm, which was a little for having to get up early for the excursion this morning. We managed to soldier through, however. ;) I second all the votes for the shrimp risotto, mushroom pappardelle and seafood skewer - all incredibly delicious! DH also really enjoyed his filet. Eating at this time also ensured that we had a front row seat for the sail away from SJ. Just a lovely view of the city and forts all lit up at night.

Tomorrow is another sea day, and I anticipate that the pools will be crowded. There are ALWAYS many chairs available, however, if you don't need to be right by the pool, both in the sun and shade. Tomorrow is the 2nd formal night, so we will wait until around 3pm to head to the pool - everyone clears out at that point to get ready for early dinner, and we will have the place to ourselves. That will also give us an opportunity to continue our Total Trivia Dominance! ;) Just kidding - we've won twice, but we've had several people say to us, 'aren't you that couple who keeps winning the trivia?' So, we have been enjoying our minor celebrity status. LOL!

Onto the questions:

I asked at Portofino re: the age requirements. They said it's mostly because part of the package is the unlimited wine at the end, plus some of the actors behave in 'a sort of sexy manner.' So I will let you know specifically what they do after Friday so you can decide. Nothing sounded like it would be too shocking for a 15 yo.

Master is Charles Teige, and he is doing a fine job! Little to no rocking, though we did hit some rain late last night. Today as we were pulling out of St. Maarten, he got into a horn-blowing competition with the Disney Miracle. They won because they ended with the first 6 notes of 'When You Wish Upon A Star', which is pretty amazing on a ship's horn!

As for the Pirate Parade, there is nothing about any of the parades in the Day 1 Compass. I could SWEAR that Ken Rush told that the Pirate Parade was even more amazing than the Soca-licious Parade. However, that was several fruity drinks ago, so I may have skewed memory of that conversation. ;)

Ditto to everything said about the internet rates. We are only Gold status, but each recieved a $5.00 coupon for credit, which they just apply directly to your account (so $10 total). But that has to be used against the full $.50 rate, as stated below.

There do not seem to be sail-away parties for each stop - just SJ. That was mostly fruity drinks and calypso music. Tonight is Dancing Under the Stars, and the Love and Marriage Show. The Flowrider is also open tonight from 10-11:15 pm, which could be interesting.

Only one weird complaint (?) - there are several channels that are showing the same movie at once, all in different languages. Except none of them are in English. Peculiar. We have seen bits of Talladega Nights and the latest James Bond in German, Portugese, French, Spanish and Italian, but no English. Just strange.

Time to get ready for Chops - I'll post more tomorrow. Looking for a fun day of relaxation!

Seriously! When I asked them about the movie channels the response was, "We haven't been able to find the James Bond movie in English"... huh? I think they're just hoping that the english speaking folks will pay for a movie.

Oh how can I keep reading this knowing that I have 297 days!!!! I am torturing myself, but the review is so good that I feel I am there with you!!! So it will be like having 2 cruises on the LOS. (don't I wish). I am longing for the seafood skewer, and I hope they have the SF coconut cake which is my favorite!! Let me know if it's still available. Keep up the great posts and keep having a great time,in spite of the spectacular fall!!!!
