*Mach* Posted December 10, 2007 Author #201 Share Posted December 10, 2007 What can you tell me about the Carnival Spirt. I have been on the Elation 3 times and the Victory-1 and RCCL- 1My email is halvorsen18@hiotmail.com Thanks I really can't tell you a ton about the Spirit as I've never sailed aboard that class of ship. What I can tell you is that the Spirit class has a very dedicated following. That class of ships has a slightly better cabin space ratio meaning that there's more room on board per passenger. Many folks really like the layout of the decks, more so than the Conquest class although I can't find fault with them. The Spirit class have supper clubs, which is always a wonderful plus and they are fast, putting more ports in reach of them than other classes of Carnival ships. My best suggestion to you would be to read as many of the reviews of the Spirit and her sister ships as you can locate. Find the reviews of the Spirit here: http://www.cruisecritic.com/memberreviews/getreviews.cfm?action=ship&ShipID=176 I think you'll be pleased by how many extraordinarily good reviews there are. Hope this helps. If not I'll see what other resources are available.

ShillyShally Posted December 10, 2007 #203 Share Posted December 10, 2007 Yeah...and with every passing minute...I think it looks more and more for sure...that they will be spending the night in Texas! What I imagine...is that word has gotten around now...that there isn't much drinking time left...and somewhere around 11:30 or so...there will be a mad-rush on buckets of beer! The law doesn't say you can't drink after midnight...just that the ship can't sell it. LOL - Maybe they'll have to make sure to restock before they pull out of port if there is a run on beer :)
ruskatab Posted December 10, 2007 #204 Share Posted December 10, 2007 LOL - Maybe they'll have to make sure to restock before they pull out of port if there is a run on beer :) LOL...I bet they have a call into Ben E. Keith!
DALSAL Posted December 10, 2007 #205 Share Posted December 10, 2007 As far as the ship not being able to leave because of the fog..its NOT just the fog..that stretch leaving Galveston is not that wide and quite a few wells to avoid hitting...its very foggy at my house tonight too...but I still wish I was on her now! :)
KRUISE KING Posted December 10, 2007 #206 Share Posted December 10, 2007 My after dinner after the show hang out is normally the casino so I would be sad but happy I was on board. Too bad they cant go out about 9 miles to open it up. Yeah I will see you at the next San Antonio dinner My pvp is ok he does not bother me too much he know most of the time I can go last min. but Im glad im not on the conquest would be pretty sad right now with no casino open, plus I think they have to charge tax on drinks. bluejeans Posted December 10, 2007 #207 Share Posted December 10, 2007 Don't know why I'm surprised she is still docked, glad I didn't wait for her to leave yesterday. The weather is a big reason I don't cruise or fly in the winter months. The spring seems to work best for me. Poor people.
Lovesunshine Posted December 10, 2007 #208 Share Posted December 10, 2007 She is still there...ouch! The real sad part is the fog looks just as bad now as it did 8 hours ago. Hope it clears soon for these folks soon or this will truly be a "cruise to nowhere".:(
Daisydog7 Posted December 10, 2007 #209 Share Posted December 10, 2007 I live in Galveston, and the fog looks worse right now than it did yesterday. Poor Conquest! Let's hope the fog lifts for a few minutes, enough time for Conquest to slip out. I wish one of the passengers would tell us what Carnival plans to do instead of sail to Jamaica. Maxax Posted December 10, 2007 #210 Share Posted December 10, 2007 Yup....she's still there! And here it is now...5:48 am Texas time...the Conquest did sit there all night long! Well...like I said earlier...I could imagine worse places to be!!! I'm sure she'll get out this morning...and A Way they will go!!!

cruisin53 Posted December 10, 2007 #215 Share Posted December 10, 2007 The Ecstacy should be in by 8:00, but due to the fog stretching out about 20 miles, she will probably be a little late too. Just depends how soon it starts letting up. Should be interesting??
DALSAL Posted December 10, 2007 #216 Share Posted December 10, 2007 It is SO foggy, you cant see a thing! I see NO lights from the Conquest..either she left and I dont know it,or the lights are off! There are major fog advisories out all around the Galveston/Houston area. You cant see anything on any of the webcams.

Luanne21 Posted December 10, 2007 #218 Share Posted December 10, 2007 She is still there. They turned out the lights around day break. I am picturing them have to get a jump on the battery, after using the lights all night.:)
