Geez! Disregard my earlier post about the fog lifting. If not for the lights, you wouldn't even be able to see the ship now! Speaking of the lights, they have changed. Maybe they're putting on the "running lights" now.

They DO look different! You can't even see the ship now! I'm not sure that she is going anywhere anytime soon!!

That is SO true, lol! Last winter here in Midland (TX) just the threat of an ice/snow storm sent people into a frenzy! I went to the store to get some eggs and people were shopping like in the old days where you take the boat and go into town for supplies one time each year!! I got caught up in what was going on and ended up buying water, and a bunch of stuff besides my eggs!! Of course, a HUGE stretch of I-10 was closed and grocery trucks couldn't get here that were coming from San Antonio, so it was a mess!! The least little bit of ice on the roads, and the schools close down here, and I personally DON'T drive! I don't know HOW! :D

LOL...This is soo true....I work at Walmart...so everytime theres a chance for precipitation, we get really busy......then the next day, everyone has to come back to the store because they have forgot something, not sure how...we say it's because they just wanted to see if they could drive in the snow...but it does increase sales...lol

I know theres alot of folks that doesn't like Walmart...but it's a job and It helps pay for my cruises.:)

I keep trying to picture what they would be doing at this time. We are in fog here, and it is cool and of course damp, so being outside the ship is probably not comfortable.

Dinner is about over with for everyone, and the casino isn't open, so I guess most are at the shows, or doing karaoke.

Galveston is reporting 70 degrees, sky obscured with 1/4 mile vis in fog... Not the best conditions but you could still wander around the Lido Deck.

I'm betting they've got some pretty good drink specials going on right now!!!

;)

I'm surprised no one has done a 'live from" thread since they still have phone service. Surely someone has an Apple iPhone or similar.

DW and I are due to board the Conquest next Sunday, 12-16-07. I hope we'll be able to get out of Galveston on time.

For our 12-17-06 cruise on Rhapsody OTS last year, the Rhapsody and Conquest both came to the pier around 11 am, about 4-5 hours late. The reason: FOG. When we came to the pier to drop off luggage, they told us to return after 1 pm. Both ships left a little late, and there was no further weather delays.

I wonder when our fellow cruisers tonight on Conquest will make the Gulf of Mexico? I guess we'll all stay tuned. Happy ship watching and cruise planning.

My same thoughts!!! I mentioned this on the other Conquest post...but I could think of worse places to be stuck right now!

If I was there...DW and I would probably be at the piano bar right about now...having a drink, wondering what effect this would have on our itenerary...but still...being happy that I was there...and not at home right now!

That's what I'd be doing stuck without sailing! :) And I'd be convinced we'd set sail if I went to sleep so I'd probably be trying to stay up late to make sure I didn't miss "sail away" (I love sail away) - then again too many drinks waiting and I may not remember any of it but hey - either way I'd be on a great ship having a good time! :)

I was sure she'd have left by now - I just got home and checked the cam and dang it - now I'll be sure she'll be gone before I wake!

Yeah...and if they're still stuck in Texas...on a Sunday night...they're gonna have to stop selling alcohol at midnight!

Oh now that would be a bummer - and I am so NOT a lush on land or on vacation (just enough in fun moderation) but there would be something about having it not be available that would make anyone that had successfully smuggled on board be king of the ship for a bit! :)

Yeah...and with every passing minute...I think it looks more and more for sure...that they will be spending the night in Texas!

What I imagine...is that word has gotten around now...that there isn't much drinking time left...and somewhere around 11:30 or so...there will be a mad-rush on buckets of beer! The law doesn't say you can't drink after midnight...just that the ship can't sell it.

Depends on what type of permit they have. I think they will be able to sell after midnight, Sunday or not. Will be interesting to confirm though.
