I live about 20 miles up 45 from the pier...Still pretty soupy here.

The cold front has not made even a leaf blow yet :(

Hopefully if that ever makes it,things will clear out.

Does anyone know if Ecstasy has made it in yet,I have friends on her today.I am assuming no,but ya never know.Maybe she is behind Conquest.

Although I guess if the channel was closed all night, that answers that.

Sux.We leave in January on Voyager..Praying for a foggless morn :)

MY poor friend..They drove in Friday night from Henderson...To get a early jump, staying here with other friends...Realized yesterday she forgot her hanging clothes bag...Had to go back yesterday to get it,and was to head back here early this AM.....

DENSE SEA FOG CONTINUES OVER GALVESTON BAY AND NEAR SHORE COASTAL WATERS

FROM HIGH ISLAND TO FREEPORT

DENSE SEA FOG WILL CONTINUE THROUGHOUT THE DAY OVER GALVESTON BAY

AND NEAR SHORE COASTAL WATERS FROM HIGH ISLAND TO FREEPORT. VISIBILITY

WILL LOWER TO 1/4 MILE OR LESS IN THE SEA FOG. THE SEA FOG WILL

ALSO SPREAD INLAND OVER PORTIONS OF CHAMBERS...GALVESTON...

BRAZORIA AND HARRIS COUNTIES REDUCING VISIBILITIES TO 1/2 TO 1

MILE AT TIMES.

Wow it says will continue through out the day. They could be stuck there for another day.

Wow....I feel for them. Hopefully they will get a window to depart sometime soon. However, here we have fog, had snow and ice all weekend, and have a winter storm watch for tonight and tomorrow. So........I"d trade places in a minute, even if the ship never leaves the dock.

I sure hate that for them. You know, you are prepared for a hurricane to mess up your cruise, but not fog! I have never thought about the possibility that fog would cause a problem on a cruise. But obviously, it can! Here's a thought. With all the fuel that Carnival is saving while the Conquest is docked, they should be able to give a decent OBC to these pax. Or at least offer a nicely discounted cruise in the future.

Morning everyone. We woke yesterday on a 7th balcony and couldn't see the rail on our balcony! Stayed dense along time and when it would clear you could see freighters all around us had family on the other side we could count at least 11. Coming in fog would come and go and some boats were close enough to toss something onto. Felt bad for all the moms with babies that left their rooms people were everywhere. Lots were in the lounges for set meeting places. Started showing movies for them. Kept the food going the entire time. I felt sorry for the embarkation passengers then having to get on so late - but now. They kept us all informed and fed. Also the entire staff deserves a bonus most of them were doing double time with no break in site.

Whatever it is, it's still there. I thought for a moment it was clearing up, but now looks like it did. I know these people are on a ship, and I know that is better than being home, but I feel for these people. I wish their adventure could get under way.

Can anyone think of another time, when a ship was delayed like this?

Thanks for the insight.

I know this is probably a long shot, but were you guys stationary all the time? Do you know if they dropped anchor or were they holding station with the thrusters???

We had dropped anchor by 6 am. Couldn't tell where we were thought the other side was at port til we went to our family's room about 7am to not be able to see anything either. They started making announcements after that. As the morning progressed yes they were using the thrushers but I think we were still anchored?

In reference to your being a great boss, I posted this and not Zoomer. He is the DH and did not log out! Of course I didn't notice and posted under his stage name! Please accept my apologies. I am curious to know who your pvp is to give you a last minute great deal like this. I would ask for emergency vacation at work if I was offered this deal. Please let me know if you can disclose. I am at josetteatjemenfousdotcom.

I wonder why we have not heard from others on board right now. Does anyone know if the Internet is turned off in port?

I know I would love to know what it's like on board without leaving but I do so feel for them! I keep checking hoping they'd leave but half the time I can't see them from the cam due to the fog!

I just read through my capers, it says internet cafe is open 24 hours except on the 12/8 one...Would they be able to purchase minutes to be able to use? I'm sure someone on the ship is trying to send word via internet. Never saw so much cell phone use as there was when we were waiting to get off

The internet is accessible in port, or at least it was when I was on the Conquest, and we had yet to sail.

Barring that, I can't imagine that there isn't one person on board with a PDA/cell phone that might drop us a note. I know that there was a substantial roll call for this sailing so there are plenty of Cruise Critic members on board.

There must be some serious phone calls going on between the ship and Miami right now. They are loosing money big time!!!

In spite of what some think, it is not a matter of just picking another port to visit. All of that has to be arranged.

I feel for all of them.
