VentureMan_2000 Posted March 19, 2008 #1 Share Posted March 19, 2008 How many of you book in the dungen and why...?
MonaCK Posted March 19, 2008 #2 Share Posted March 19, 2008 Generally book inside because it allows me to cruise more often. That being said - going to be in my first balcony this May. Ii'm not sure I'm going to be able to go back to an inside cabin after that. ;)
mrgame101 Posted March 19, 2008 #3 Share Posted March 19, 2008 We have booked a guarantee twice and got upgraded to an oceanview. If we didnt get upgraded it would be no big deal. We both like dark dark dark when we sleep and that is only when we were in cabin to sleep! Like saving the $$$
Travelitis Posted March 19, 2008 #4 Share Posted March 19, 2008 We've stayed in everything from inside to OS on the Sun, complete with our own hot tub on our balcony. This time we booked an inside so we could sneak in another cruise. We find that we don't really use regular sized balconies. If we have have an extra large (aft or suite) then we love it, but if we can't fit a lounger on the balcony, it's barely used. We like the fresh air, but it would've been $900 more on this sailing. Our choice was book an inside on a 7 night or an outside on a 4.
3boysvus Posted March 19, 2008 #5 Share Posted March 19, 2008 We will be funding three college educations, currently funding two high schol educations, and pay for daycare - the only way we can afford to cruise as a family is inside - though upgrades are fun and appreciated. When it's just the two of us I book inside b/c I'm afraid if we book a balcony we won't be able to go back inside which means less cruises which means an unhappy me...and if mom ain't happy ain't nobody happy:D . jessemon Posted March 19, 2008 #7 Share Posted March 19, 2008 How many of you book in the dungen and why...?I book a "dungeon" because of price and I'm only in the cabin to sleep, shower and change. Of course maybe one of these days I might get lucky on a cruise and that would make four reasons to be in a dungeon. Oops, better remember to bring the whips and chains.....LOL:D :D
MrPete Posted March 19, 2008 #8 Share Posted March 19, 2008 I don't like being in a room without windows. I won't stay in a room without windows. Even in a hotel, this would be called a closet.
spartygrad95 Posted March 19, 2008 #9 Share Posted March 19, 2008 It's vacation and I don't go on vacation to spend time in a room. I do that at home.
cacruz Posted March 19, 2008 #10 Share Posted March 19, 2008 Money...the room is simply a place to get the necessities out of the way.

Carnival Game Posted March 19, 2008 #12 Share Posted March 19, 2008 If I made $20k more a year I'd spring for a balcony, but I don't so I don't!
Ilovepj Posted March 19, 2008 #13 Share Posted March 19, 2008 For my first 3 cruises I booked an inside, and it was fine, like every one said you only sleep, get dressed and go. But this cruise I did book a balony, thinking, hoping it might keep me out of the casino, which is were I spend all my money, hope it works, lol. Happy cruising
Glama Posted March 19, 2008 #14 Share Posted March 19, 2008 We book insides on the smaller ships, due to the limited balconies/price, plus the fact that we're only on the ship 4 nights If it's a 7 nighter, we'll get a balcony for sure.
lisa702 Posted March 19, 2008 #15 Share Posted March 19, 2008 We have only sailed in balconies and oceanview up until our last 3 day on Carnival. We had an inside and I was expecting the worst but it really was not so bad at all. I have reserved another inside for August for a 4 day.
98Charlie Posted March 19, 2008 #16 Share Posted March 19, 2008 It's the price for us with a few exceptions: Alaska & cruises with more sea days than port days. There have been a couple of times that the price for a balcony has been so close that we have splurged. That's usually a total of $300 for the cabin on a 7+ night cruise. sixgun8 Posted March 19, 2008 #17 Share Posted March 19, 2008 3 hots and a cot would do for me. We just need a place to store our gear and sleep. Waking hours are for the ship!
Chigirlcruzin Posted March 19, 2008 #18 Share Posted March 19, 2008 OV was $200 more pp on my cruise next month, and balconies were $400 pp more. We can both afford it, but we couldn't rationalize spending the extra money for a place to put our clothes, shower, and sleep. I'm with spartygrad...I'm not on vacation to sit in a room. Just get me on the ship and I'm happy:p
cookc61462 Posted March 19, 2008 #19 Share Posted March 19, 2008 Money. I'd rather spend it elsewhere. I do love the OV though :)
dec2007w3boys Posted March 19, 2008 #20 Share Posted March 19, 2008 Easy - I am a cheap a$$. As long as I have a bed, a shower, lights, a toilet and a sink I am just fine. I am only in the room for the above reasons. :D That being said, I did opt for a closet on the Lido deck for the Freedom cruise this November. shortstuf1255 Posted March 19, 2008 #21 Share Posted March 19, 2008 I have booked inside because of the price. Sure would like to see the outside. At home most windows are open and I have light coming in. But on the ship I want a room to store my stuff and a place to sleep..Now the next cruise is booked as an inside guarenteed but of course I am hoping for the upgrade fairy
falconfan Posted March 19, 2008 #22 Share Posted March 19, 2008 Money! For what it would cost to book a balcony room we could take two-and-a-half inside stateroom cruises. I also like the fact that it gets really dark in there for my afternoon naps.
memphislonghorn Posted March 19, 2008 #23 Share Posted March 19, 2008 I can't afford a balcony, the room is just for sleeping, and when I'm sleeping, I love it DARK!!!;)
slatts10 Posted March 19, 2008 #24 Share Posted March 19, 2008 I booked the dungen because I'm not planning on being in my room often (only to sleep and shower) and would rather spend my money on having fun doing other things.
