MikeACY Posted September 15, 2008 #326 Share Posted September 15, 2008 With out getting into the rights or wrongs, we went on the Spirit in August. Out of all the 25 suitcases our group had, no one had any problems. Just don't leave it in the origional bottle.
*Wink* Posted September 15, 2008 #327 Share Posted September 15, 2008 I have been wondering can you purchase bottles of wine for your cabin while onboard? If so do you go to a bar or call room service?? Thanks. Yes. You can get wine through the bar, at dinner, or through room service.

jannyb Posted September 15, 2008 #330 Share Posted September 15, 2008 Just off the Pearl. I brought 5 bottles of wine from an Oregon winery I work at. I wrapped them in bubble wrap and checked them in a separate bag from the rest of our luggage at the port. (we drove to Seattle) When all our luggage came, that bag was not there. Later, maybe an hour, there was a letter outside our cabin stating that I needed to come to the "naughty room". I signed a form stating the $15 corkage fee for each bottle and got to take my wine to our cabin. We took one bottle at a time to dinner, they offered to keep the wine and we could have it at any restaurant we chose at any time, but we took it back to the cabin. I had one bottle of white wine that I kept chilled in the ice bucket that the Steward kept full of ice for me. It was nice to have chilled and ready at any time. I did not try to hide the wine. I felt that i get such a good discount on our wonderful wine, it was worth it to me to be able to drink something I knew was good, so I paid the fee without regret. One thing I wanted future cruisers to be careful of is to make sure you check the amount of bottles they wrote down on the slip that you sign. I was in a hurry and there was a line of people behind me and I didnt look close enough. I did get charged corkage for 6 bottles of wine. It may have been an innocent mistake on their part, but be aware. Happy cruisin' jannyb

BEAV Posted September 23, 2008 #334 Share Posted September 23, 2008 I know of some folks that just fill up a empty red wine bottle with crown royal, or their brand of vodka or gin and just re-seal it and just pay the $15.00. It works!!:)

Rockwife Posted September 23, 2008 #337 Share Posted September 23, 2008 Some friends just returned from a Baja RCL cruise and had their two bottles of wine confiscated. At the end of the cruise they had to fetch their wine from a table covered in various booze, full-sized irons, and. . . (I swear I'm not making this up) a black leather bullwhip! Hee!!! Back on topic- I'm going to try to bring a box of wine on the Majesty in Dec. I'll report back upon my return.
oz cleopatra Posted September 23, 2008 #338 Share Posted September 23, 2008 How desperate are they? When will people get it's not about being desperate- it's about the fun of it all!!!:D My husband has gotten endless amusement out of watching me plot and schem as to how to get booze onboard. It is the game, the thrill of the hunt, getting one over the man. Call it whatever you like but it's entertainment, just like prowling these boards is and many might consider THAT not their idea of a good time but it's ours and that's all that matters. I'm competitive and that's just how I roll. Your'e still invited to my party Terry- I guarantee you'll have a good time. :p Remember- we don't stop playing because we grow old- we grow old because we stop playing. msmarvel Posted September 25, 2008 #347 Share Posted September 25, 2008 Yep! Like planning the perfect bank robbery or burglary or maybe even the perfect murder! ;) "Because murder is like anything you take to It's a habit-forming need for more and more. You can bump off every member of your family, And anybody else you find a bore! 'Cause it's Murder by Numbers One, two three, It's as easy to learn as your ABC's" Love that song!!;) Well, no one has recurring nightmares or gets shot if someone sneaks some booze onboard.....so it's tough to compare those things. People might lose sleep the night before smuggling booze onboard, but that's completely different.
