Has anyone ever "switched" PVP's, and how do I find a better one?

You know how you can tell when someone doesn't like you? Sometimes you haven't even done anything wrong to 'warrant' the dislike? I COMPLETELY get that we all have different personalities and some get along get...and some don't. Well, guess which of those categories (forgive the pun!) my PVP and I are in?!

The first couple of times I called her, it was a pleasant experience. The third and subsequent times I have called her I must have done something to piss her off/or she has changed/or....whatever. Either way, I DREAD the thought of calling her.

Life is too short. I can be miserable calling her (and clearly she's not having a good time when I'm calling her either), or I can just get a different one.

Am I able to ask on this board for recommendations? If not, how do I go about doing this? Should I even bother or just book online?

Thanks

If you don't like the person you are dealing with, please speak to someone else. I work customer service in the travel industry and I appreciate great service, as I provide to my customers. So without question, I would not tolerate poor service and would talk to someone else. When I get a great agent, I ask for their extension and deal with them exclusively. You can tell the vibes folks give off if they want to provide you great service or just don't care about their job or their customers. Life is too short to put up with those folks who don't care. There are plenty others who do.

I was in this situation this year with a pvp who wasn't that helpful. My original pvp literally brought me to tears once it was so bad... I finally did a google search for carnival pvp which led me to hundreds of threads on here and the carnival forums where people named awesome pvps by name. I called one and never looked back! Your planning a vacation, you should be feeling ecstatic not miserable!

I agree- it's super easy to do, too! I switched to someone that was highly recommended by other users. I emailed him and had to send a blurb back that I wanted him as my PVP so he could show his supervisor. All in all it was simple and I'm happy. He's really nice- attentive, too. Posts alot of info on FB- and I love it :)

Good luck!

I cant stand my PVP... The first time I used him, he insisted he put me on a higher deck with my past Guest discount, when I needed connecting cabins and no one else travelling with me had cruised on Carnival before. He told me that there were no connecting cabins available on the lower decks (9 months out) and booked me in two 6D cabins on a Fantasy class ship, despite the fact that I asked to be booked on as low of a deck as possible to save $$$$ due to no past guest rate eligibility for the other passengers in my group.

Needless to say, I knew better, and after I booked, called the regular 800 number 10 minutes after booking, and got the cabins switched to 6B's on the Riviera deck, and saved $120 total (I was paying everyone's cruise fare on that trip) in the process.

Needless to say, because my PVP either lied to me (telling me nothing on a lower deck was available), or just flat out never bothered to take the time to look for connecting cabins on a lower deck. Because of that, I will never use that PVP again.

The problem is that, on this board, we're not allowed to recommend TA's, PVP's, etc.; you may have to go with word-of-mouth from fellow Carnival cruisers other than the board. You should always be able to call the 800 number, ask to speak to a Supervisor, tell them your situation and ask to e assigned a new PVP. ken

My PVP is awesome!!! I've been using him for years and he's always fun to talk to and very helpful with any request I have. He always calls me when there is a good deal to be had. He's the reason I'm booked on the Liberty this december for the casino offer for next to nothing. I hope you have good luck in finding a PVP that works for you.

I stopped using PVP's and just book on my own , online. I feel I am a darn better PVP then the last 2 I had, and can do the same thing him/her could do. I had a good one for years and he quit, sadly. Then I was assigned one, non stop badgering on her first call to me. When I tried to call her, she never returned my calls, or emails. I then booked a cruise online, she called me back AFTER I already cruised!!! I told her I already cruised, and she said " why didn't you call me, I could have gotten credit?" WHAT?? I then called and requested another one, and this next one wouldn't STOP calling, all the time, at my job, at home, non stop. I told her I couldn't receive phone calls during work hours but she still called me at work. I just decided it would be easier to do it myself and have since been doing it for about 4 years now.:)

We did switch pvp's right before we booked this cruise. We had a horrible one. What I don't understand about the PVP's is, if you are working on commission wouldn't you want to honor the wishes of the people you are working for? Point in case. We had a PVP who would call constantly. Like every single day. Sometimes more than once and it usually happened to be when I was at work. Well I work at a hospital in patient care and I can not answer my phone and discuss vacations with her. Sorry, that would not be a good choice.

Still, even after asking this PVP to not call all the time and telling her that I would call her when I was ready to book a cruise she continued to call. ALL THE TIME. To the point that I was put off by her and I no longer wanted to work with her. I think it's rude. She lost my business. Had she listened I would have given her a call when we were ready to book, but she didn't listen.

So, just like you I got fed up and I ended up asking for recommendations and I found someone wonderful and booked with her instead. She is in the top 5% of the PVP's and has been doing it a long time. I have gotten along with her quite well.

I dumped my last PVP when she accused me of being cheap. I wasn't sure whether our children would sail with us or not, and wanted to book two connecting rooms with one person in each. (This was back when you only had to pay one deposit for a single person.) If we were going to take the kids, we would add them on later. If not, we'd consolidate into one booking and "release" the other cabin.

This incited her to argue. Finally I just decided to book on my own and have never looked back.

So how do I find a GOOD one, maybe even your good one? I don't know anyone else who cruises so I can't ask for recommendation...wish I could!!

I'm in the same boat. Lately I've had better luck finding more helpful Comcast customer service reps - and that's saying something!

Seriously I wish we could recommend PVPs on here but I suppose I understand why we shouldn't. ::sigh::

Switch PVP's? i just wish we could get one. Everytime wr ask we are told they cant give names, apparently you have to be "chosen" to get one

Click on the "Contact Me" button as you shop for a cruise and you'll get a PVP - apparently 800 number operators cannot call out, but PVP's can.

Had the same problem with the original PVP I had. She would call all the time, even after I told her that I would call her if I needed anything. After I booked my second cruise called to get a price reduction and she was on vacation the PVP covering for her was much more helpful and helped get me a better price reduction even then the posted rate. When I tried to use the one who helped me get the price reduction for my third cruise she refused stating the other was her friend and she could no longer help me. I too then searched the threads and came up with my current PVP who is awesome. After booking my third cruise with him I got a call from my first PVP in which she was very rude and condescending to me about if I had a problem with her I should have told her. I tried to tell her about the many times I told her not to call me and she did and also about the better help I got from another PVP when she was on vacation. I then told her that a PVP should be looking out for the best interest of her clients and she then hung up on me. So my current PVP will keep my business since he respects my wishes and always lets me know when I can get a better deal. That is what customer service looks like.

watch what you wish for. i never asked for a pvp. i never booked through a pvp. but apparently i have one who cold calls me all the time. and if i research a cruise and forget to hide my vifp number he emails me and calls both my cell phone and home phone leaving messages. i could understand if i conducted business with him in the past or have called him for research on a cruise. but it appears that i am just a name on a list of customers that he cold calls and trolls for business. to me he is no different than a telemarketer and i will never do business with that kind of person. i do my own research and when i am ready to book i call the 800# and that person gets my business.

HAHAHA That is really funny.

My Princess PVP was terrible. NCL was great. Carnival I went through a TA. I think it is really the luck of the draw. Just like customer service.

That's how we found our first PVP. We did book through her. I was booking connecting cabins and couldn't get that to happen on the website. She was a pill. After the initial booking when she treated me like I had no clue about cruising, she kept calling to see if I wanted to book. I already had! With her! The final straw was the week after we came back, she called to see if I was ready to book "yet." what?? We just got back.

My sister happened into a great PVP a couple of years ago and I use her all the time now. It is a bummer that we can't reccomend, but I think you can on Funville.
