Rare JessyCruises Posted September 22, 2014 #1 Share Posted September 22, 2014 We have MTD so have prepaid gratuities & we a have $150 OBC for our Nov 29 Oasis sailing. I have already prepurchased our drink packages. Is it possible to refund our grats once we are onboard and pay for them onboard using the OBC? I do not want to change the amount, but we are not planning on doing any excursions or any of the speciality dining so I don't see what else we would use the OBC for (we are not souvenir shoppers). Thanks all! Jess

Thanks all! Jess You must have prepaid gratuities to choose MTD pre-cruise. The only way to have MTD and be able to use OBC for gratuities would be to choose traditional dining now (if possible), remove gratuities, then ask to be moved to MTD once onboard (if possible). Lots of "ifs".
Rare JessyCruises Posted September 22, 2014 Author #5 Share Posted September 22, 2014 Thanks all. I might just cancel my drink package and repurchase it onboard Thanks Jessica
Rare LMaxwell Posted September 22, 2014 #6 Share Posted September 22, 2014 Another option is to cash out the OBC at Purser Desk or in the Casino (I think in the Casino there is a 5% fee). Or, as you said, cancel your drink package and repurchase it onboard.

Clarea Posted September 22, 2014 #8 Share Posted September 22, 2014 (edited) I didn't know cashing OBC at the Pursers desk was an option. I believe it is, but I believe it's limited to the last day (maybe even afternoon or evening) of the cruise. cruisenfever Posted September 22, 2014 #9 Share Posted September 22, 2014 I didn't know cashing OBC at the Pursers desk was an option. Yes, as long as it is "refundable" OBC which would be any OBC not given to you by RCI. The times vary by ship. Some allow refunds anytime after 12 noon. Other ships only allow refunds after 4PM or later.
YadaYadaJodi Posted September 22, 2014 #10 Share Posted September 22, 2014 Thanks all. I might just cancel my drink package and repurchase it onboard Thanks Jessica Seems to me this would be the easiest option by far.

Retired LEO Posted September 22, 2014 #13 Share Posted September 22, 2014 Being horizontal throws the page out of whack and makes it too wide. Placing them vertically would help out greatly. Just a little advice. That's all.

Langley Cruisers Posted September 22, 2014 #18 Share Posted September 22, 2014 So the signature clocks (tickers) are really off topic but OP, if you type a space in between your tickers, they should stack vertically automatically. Concerning the topic of this thread and the OBC, do you really think you will not use it? Wouldn't the re-purchase of the "drink packages" (plural - and I don't know which ones you bought) use it all up plus more anyway? .

Rare LMaxwell Posted September 22, 2014 #21 Share Posted September 22, 2014 Try using a "shift + enter" between the tickers and see if that doesn't arrange them top to bottom instead of horizontally. I have signatures turned off so I can't see them for anyone; saves page space and bandwidth.

If the OP cancels the drink package before the cruise, they can then buy it on board using the $150 OBC and pay the balance.

Wouldn't the re-purchase of the "drink packages" (plural - and I don't know which ones you bought) use it all up plus more anyway? The repurchase of the drink package would use it all up. We got one select package & one Royal Replenishment. If I don't cancel them & rebook I cannot see me using $150, although I could surprise myself. I called RCI and they said I cannot use it at the casino, we don't do souvenirs and I am not into massages. We also do not do excursions or signature dinners. I could just play alot of Bingo... Langley Cruisers Posted September 23, 2014 #25 Share Posted September 23, 2014 I hear you. There might be something that catches your eye in the shops, though... on every cruise, my husband buys me a little something as a memento, even if it's just my favorite perfume, a cocktail ring, or a small purse. It's very sweet. :)
