Zuiderdam is scheduled for a two week dry dock when it returns from it Baltic sailings from Copenhagen. After it completes its Transatlantic sailing from Copenhagen to New York City it will do a few New England sailings and then head for its dry dock in Freeport, Bahamas. At the completion of the dry dock the ship heads for its winter port in Port Everglades. Returned from a wonderful twelve night voyage on the Zuiderdam in Copenhagen on June 22nd.

when was the zuiderdam last updated

Zuidy last entered dry-dock at Fincantieri's Palermo, Sicily facility between 31 MAR -13 APR 2015 for standard maintenance. She also received the 25 additional cabins on Observation Deck behind the Crow’s Nest, as well as the Retreat Cabanas on Sports Deck.

She's scheduled to enter the Grand Bahama shipyard in Freeport on 23 OCT this year where she will remain until 04 NOV 2017. This will be for standard maintenance plus adding the “Music Walk” concept with Lincoln Center Stage in the forward part of the Explorers Lounge; “Billboard Onboard” incl. “Dueling pianos”instead of the Sports Bar and part of the Casino; a Casino Bar instead of the Piano Bar; the Gallery (Arts) Bar instead of the Northern Lights nightclub; the full “Market Place” concept in the Lido Restaurant incl. new furnishings and carpet; “Explorations Central” with ‘the Hub’, ‘Destinations Display’, ‘Virtual Bridge’, ‘Theater EXC’ ‘Journeys Ashore’ and ‘the Library’, in addition to the ‘Explorations Café’ in the Crow’s Nest; "Rijksmuseum at Sea"in the Deck 1 Atrium floor incl. the removal of her Atrium Bar; Suite upgrades and improvements, incl. interactive TVs, new furniture, modern fixtures and new carpeting; standard stateroom upgrade with wall-mounted flat TVs; and a Spa upgrade (carpet and furnishings)

Thank you for the details on the upcoming maintenance and update work, I had not previously read exactly what would be done this Fall. We're hoping Zuiderdam will be doing those Sunfarer cruises to the canal in the Winter of 2018-19 (we unfortunately had to cancel a similar cruise on Zuiderdam this past February). Hopefully the schedule for that season will be out sometime in the next few months.

Thanks for this thorough listing of the updates.

When we were on the Zuiderdam recently, we were told that there was a "possibility" that the Atrium stairs between decks 2 and 3 might be modified, or even removed. I see on HAL's website that you can now view deck plans post dry dock, and it would appear that the stairs will be retained. That seems like a wise move to me. I couldn't really visualize the Atrium without those stairs!

When "Rijksmuseum at Sea" is put into Zuiderdam during her November dry-dock later this year, she will lose her Atrium stairwell to Deck 1, as it will be "cut off" at Deck 2. Take a look at these pics from Zuidy's younger sister Westerdam (entire 2nd row and 1st pic in the 3rd row)which received the same modifications earlier this year in April. With the Atrium Bar and stairs removed, as well as shorex moved up to the Crow's Nest, the Atrium "floor" has a completely different look
