Summit to Bermuda in July: Pros and Cons

We love Summit and Bermuda! Having said that, I wouldn't go in July; too hot/humid, too many kids, and ridiculously high fares, not necessarily in that order.

Not to mention hurricanes.

We usually do Bermuda the end of May before all the kiddies get out of school and hurricanes start forming.

We've done July on the Summit 2 times and are doing a third this July. I don't think Bermuda is as humid as say Florida or the Caribbean in July and we found it comfortable. We had very good weather both times although any area in the east and south is subject to rain in the summer months. Celebrity does not draw a lot of young kids because of the lack of kid friendly activities so I would base too many kids as the main reason not to go. I do agree that the rates are higher in July.

July average high is 85 F with 81% humidity. I have been in Bermuda in the summer many times, and it feels hot. We like Bermuda so much that when the kids were younger, and summer was the only time we could go, we went.

We went August last year, it was hot & humid but we enjoyed it , not a lot of kids, we are going July this year!

Did you go over labor day weekend because that usually does not have as many kids but the rest of the summer from 3rd week of June or so will have a lot of kids.

We have also been to Bermuda in July previously (2014) and are going again this July. We also had beautiful weather while we were there. Yes, it is hot, but it is summer so I think that is to be expected most places. The only place I found it to be really hot was on the beach where you get the reflection of the sun off the water and sand.

We really only noticed the kids on sea days. However, for the most part we really only noticed them around the pools and the places you would expect to find them. It didn't really bother us as we don't typically hang out by the pool. We were in Aqua class so I suspect that also helped since we were never in the MDR.

Thanx for that link to your review. We are sailing Summit to Bermuda June 26.

Just spent a couple of hours reading it, and we have the same cabin as you, 1140.

Great stuff, very helpful.:)

I have only sailed on the Shilouette - anyone have comments to share on the Summit 7 day Bermuda cruise in July?

We went once in late July. To avoid all the kids (for the most part), stay in the adult areas - Solarium, Martini Bar, Casino, Aqua Class, late seating dining, Sunset Bar, etc.

Water is a little warmer in July.

I had not thought of the kids issue!

We go every year in the summer months. Had no issues with kids on Celebrity or on Royal. They seemed to mind their own business. Wouldn't say the same for the adults though!:D;):p

July is hot and humid. I have sailed and flown in many times in July. It is beach weather. I love staying in Bermuda. Nothing like a week on the pink sand beaches. Sightseeing can be uncomfortable due to the humidity. For the past 4 years we sailed to Bermuda on the Summit in late April and May. Mostly in the 70s. Not exactly good beach weather. Good weather for sightseeing. Go before end of June has very few kids. Summer is crowded with kids on ships. Beware of ships that let kids sail free unless you bring your own. This year we sailed the first week of May. It was windy. We also only stayed 2 days instead of the scheduled 3 days due to a storm warning. 2 days is not enough. Next time I will fly in and stay for a week.

We have sailed to Bermuda on the summit a least 5 times. We typically sail the first or second week in August- never had any problems. It is hot- but great for swimming and other outdoor activities. By July, the water is warm and wonderfully comfortable- if you go in May, you might have cooler days and cooler water.

I think the summer and early fall are the best times to go to Bermuda. The only extremly hot places in Bermuda in August were the pottery store and glass blowing studio at the pier.

Couldn't agree more!!!

We've gone in June and July (on Royal) - we are going this July on Summit. We don't mind heat and humidity - we go for the water and beaches - so it's perfect. :)

We were just on the Summit three weeks ago and had 1140. There was an additional full lounger on the veranda that we really enjoyed. Just an FYI.

We have cruised to Bermuda twice before on RCI in July. Is it hot and humid? Yes, just like it is in the mid-atlantic. We've had smooth seas and no rain on both trips. We're on Summit on 24 July to Bermuda and expect the same weather. We go in July because it's our anniversary. This July is our 35th.

Hey BND. Congrats on #35. We usually went in late August, our anniversary month. We have never had a kids problem on board. The ship absorbed all the cruisers just fine and yeah it was at times brutally hot and humid, but beautiful Bermuda a 3 day stay in port is worth it. This will be our 16th time there and celebrating #38. Smooth sailing, good weather, and happy anniversary.

Went two years ago on the Summit in July and don't remember any more kids on this cruise than on any other Celebrity cruise, which is hardly any. While I wouldn't hesitate to return to Bermuda on the Summit, I much prefer the S Class ships.

Thanks! Yes, we've seen kids on both trips, but we certainly weren't inundated like some cruises at holiday time or out of FL can be.

We are on this sailing too (as long as hubby doesn't need back surgery due to recent injury at work). First time to Bermuda. So excited.
